Afer the backup, it just kept reloading over and over. I am under the impression that my backup file is corrupt. Like you said before,TT Home doesnt do a very good job of restoring. Is there somewhere for me to get a backup file so I can just start from total scratch????

Did you delete everything, except the map, from your XL before you did the restore?

No. I didnt know if TT Home would restore that way or not. Should I try it again, deleting files first? It did back up to my old original map and deleted off the 865.3254 map.

Might as well. You have nothing to lose. The backup should be here: C:\Users\Your Name\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Backup. Copy & paste all but the map.

If it is a backup of your "Official" navcore, it has not been patched. Have you used the 2 files that Downunder linked in post 21?

The files I posted are already patched, so no need to patch again.
I would say that your bootloader is incompatible as I can't see anything obvious that you are doing wrong.
But my checks confirm that the 5.5277 is the correct BL for the 9.061 and the new XL.
To confirm that there are no hardware defects please delete all from the device and update through Home until you got the 9.061 on the device again (as unmodified original).
With that your device should start as normal but complain that there are no maps.
If that is working we can try to find out what goes wrong during the patching, so if it works don't patch or add a map yet.
Just report back if the original Navcore installed by Home on an empty TT will work.

Did the erase and just copied the files minus maps back on since I imagine Home would have installed the map in the backup file. Worked like you said it would. Loaded up to the point it said no maps found. I am guessing this is what tendriver was trying to get me to do. Didnt understand then, but do now. A big shoutout and thanks go out to him in putting up with me this far!! LOL Also thanks to Downunder35m for helping me as well.
Whats next?

Confirm your map is patched by the presence of a .meta.dct file in the map folder. Load you new map folder into your XL IQ. Use Downunder's ttsystem & PNDNavigater files. Reboot.

The map that I downloaded off of here is not patched. I didnt download the one with the auto installer/patch. Should I download the patched version?
Not sure I understand about the ttsystem file. The link that Downunder supplied was for a patched 9.061. Right? Where do I get that?
Looked at what is on there now, I have a ttsystem file last modified 4-21-11. Same as PNDNav file. Maybe thats my problem, I just looked at my backup file and that's what is in there. Guess from using Home to do the backup?

If you think I should download the patched map, could you please hook me up with a link on where to get it from. The one that I downloaded from before had me go through LinkSave.in. It only lets you download 1 file at a time. That last one took several hours to complete. Am in the process downloading them now but if you have an easier one to use I would gladly go there. The one I am dowloading from is posted by Popeye. http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?4551-All-New-Maps-865.XXXX. Thanks

1. You stated in post 35 that you loaded 3254 & ran fastactivate.
2. The link that Downunder supplied is a download for pre-patched 9.061 ttsystem & PNDNavigator files.
3. OK Leave them alone for now.
4. No, the map you already have is OK. Just patch it with FastActivate.

Copied ttsystem an PNDNavigator.Installed map and patched it. First reboot didnt work. Got the red screen again.Went and checked and .dct file was not there. Did fastactivate again and reboot.
Same result,the thing wont go past the boot screen like always.
Just out curiousity, I know you said that Operate in Home is just a simulation. But when I ran that the ttgo file changed to this:
RamDiskVersion=20101007
BootLoaderVersion=10012
LinuxVersion=1000
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9061
ApplicationVersion=576030.103
UserLanguage=English US
UserName=
LastConnectionTime=Never
GPSFirmwareVersion=Unknown
CurrentVoiceInfo=Mandy
CurrentMap=North_America_P_865_3254
CurrentMapVersion=865.3254

From when after I reboot and start again it looks like this:
RamDiskVersion=20100915
BootLoaderVersion=55277
LinuxVersion=567329
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9061
ApplicationVersion=576030.2
UserLanguage=English US
[email protected]
LastConnectionTime=Never
GPSFirmwareVersion=
CurrentVoiceInfo=Mandy
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0
Should it change like that or stay steady in some sort of configuration?
Thanks for you help, sorry to be such a pain.

Home only simulates your device and uses the files availabur device.
The bootloader in Home always shows the wrong number - it is from the simulator.
Home finds your map and if you can use the map in Home you at least know the map is patched correctly.
Your problem is either the installation of the Navcore or a faulty device.
If the files would be on a SD card I would say try a different SD card.
In case nothing works out I could make pre-patched Navcore 9.061 with installer to make sure the Navcore is fine.
At least when Home installs the official Navcore and without any midifications after the install, your device should boot up and complain about the map.
If that is not the case I suspect a faulty device.
