Not enough space on Go930

Postby jt98 » Fri Mar 05, 2021 8:22 pm

Hi,

I am trying to install the United_States_2GB_1065_10692 on my tomtom Go930.
It keeps complaining about not enough space.

Any thing I can delete to get more space or use another map.

Thanks in advance.

... there shouldn't be any problems with a 2 GB map - provided no other map is installed. But such old internal memory tends to fade away. A solution could be an external SDCard of 4 GB. Copy the complete internal memory to your SD card and format the internal memory. The Go 930 will then boot from the SD card.

I would definitely follow netblitz's advice, it has very big advantages itself.
Depending on the boot loader in use, version 5.5028 can use SDHC cards larger than 2GB
The boot loader that I have been using satisfactorily lately is version 5.5279 and on a 32GB SDHC you can install all the maps you can think of

Thank you for the reply.

I am new to this isntall. So copy all the data from the tomtom internal memory to sd card.
Install teh new map on the sd card and it should be fine.

Thanks for the time.

Not so fast, please.
Check first which bootloader is in use.
Switch off your device, than start it again and hold the button pressed till black screen with the white text appear.
There you'll find which bootloader is in use.
If it's below 5.5028 an update is necessary
But when you do this for the very first time, be careful when you run out of power you'll damage your device, you'll need than some extra information how to handle

I really don't see any problem to use for example a 32GB SDHC card.
Format any SDHC above 2GB format32 and insert into your GO 930
Reset and start with that empty card, sure an error will follow, no map(s) found or similar.
Now you're sure the GO 930 read the SDHC card.
Next follow the advice of netblitz's, please.
