Not receiving subscribed-to updates

Postby Hamish » Thu Nov 22, 2012 9:04 am

Since the last Microsoft Windows update release I have not received any posts from the Maps (900) and Navcore 9 forums. My subscriptions are set to "Instant notification by eMail).
I think the Windows update is just coincedence, so what could it be?

Not 100% sure, but if that only happened recently it is possible.
But there are some Email providers that block mails coming from NT - again not a problem if you got your usual confirmation mail for the registration.

Any other users with the same problem since the MS updates ?

I joined May 2010 and all been fine until recent problem. Using IE9, under Windows 7 64bit. Just spotte NT specified in Tools\Campatibility mode so I've removed it. Will restart IE and see what happens - maybe tomorrow.

The question would be what Email program you use.
You said it was working before the updates, maybe just coincidence but have you also checked the spam folder and settings in the Email program?
I know some of the MS protection systems block certain IP's but that should not affect your mail.
If you have browser acces to your Email account, check it there as well as the folders - sometime with an update providers change their whitelists causing mails to be redirected into the spam folder or in worst cases to be blocked before you get to see them at all.
Last resort would be to get a freemail account somewhere and to change your email address in your settings here.
If you get notifications on the new address you'll know the problem was your email provider ;)

Hi,

Just for saying that Windows 7 32 bits + Thunderbird for the mails is OK (even with the last Windows Updates)

PS : thanks again to NT for the great job !!

Re post #5

Hotmail using IE9. This method still works for the other forums of which you are also a member.

For non-Hotmail eMmails I use Magic Mail Monitor for viewing headers, deleting
unwanted, prior to running eM Client (used to use Outlook 2003 under XP).

But I don't know how to get a Hotmail account into MMM. "Host: pop3.live.com" \ "port: 995" / check "Use SSL"

Cracked it!

Added "@navitotal.com" to "\Options\More options\Safe and blocked senders" in Hotmail (IE9) and all's sweetness and light.

OK, I remembered having a similar problem with another site a couple of years ago so dug around in Hotmail and found that I'd done this fix the other site - which "disappeared" after a Windows XP update.

Mods: this can be closed, thanks to all.
