Novice help for TT Rider V1

Postby Downunder35m » Sun Oct 28, 2012 1:26 pm

This is only the ttsystem, replacing the original files of an otherwise complete installation.
You miss the basic understanding of a Navcore ;)
Download and unpack the .cab onto your device, overwrite the files with the ones included for the xttsystem.
Other option is to use the basic pack, but you have to check for yourself if the xttsystem is already included as an archive.

Ok, step by step.
got downloaded 9.205.rider3.CAB-navcore-RIDER.cab and placed in target SD card. Unpacked with 7-Zip
Copied all files from X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1 to SD card. (overwriting ttsys)
Placed card in Rider, loaded and screen after splash screen is Select a map...No maps found.
Now SD back in PC,drive F: installed United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland 895.4444_Installer.exe to SD card, using PW
Install and TAASE ex completed.
SD removed and placed in Rider Splash screen followed by Problem with map.. You cannot use this map on this device: .....-622
Now crying my eyes out, despairing, remove SD and back in PC to try:
Placed latest FastActivate in SD card, run it, clicked on Maps,Voices,Speedcams .... Press any key to continue.
Removed SD and back in Rider....Splash screen... nothing!!! Stays there, no boot into anything!
:dash3:
:wallbash:
Could 7-Zip be the problem? the PC? Have I missed something?

1. Please carefully read the Download Instructions conserning 7zip in post 1of the All New Maps 895.XXXX thread!!
2. This is totally unnecessary.
3. The map is not patched.

Before putting any more time in this you might want to check if it's possible at all to run 9.205 on a RiderV1.
I have tried it on a Rider2 and it also didn't boot past the splash screen.
On my question if anyone at all could confirm this combination works, there were only negative reactions, so this might also be the case for the Rider1!

see this post:
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?8947-TomTom-Rider-2ND-edition.-What-would-you-advise

If I would have known, the user didn't use the headset at all, I would have put NC 8.412 SE on it.

The Rider is not a normal TT device, but all Rider models can be used with the 9.205 and if done correctly and the right files are used even the headset will work.
Problem is not so much support for a good headset but that the Scala headset is crap and uses protocols that only TT use.

Well, thanks for the later replies / comments.
I still have not managed to do it. I've formatted the SD, re-installed from my original discs, just to get the ttbif file and re-check that the unit had not failed.
Really stuck, ideally I may need to borrow a worlking card to test. Anyone local?
I will retry when have a little more time and post a summary.

Ok. Latest atempt:

Formated sd card, copied ttgo.bif from an origianl install to it.
Unpacked 9.205.rider3.CAB-navcore-Rider.cab onto sd card using WinRAR
Copying ttsysystem file and PNDNavigator from X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1
Removed sd card and placed in Rider to test so far (I know I do not have to)

Unit (eventually) goes to No maps found message on Select a map screen
Placed sd card back in pc

Installed map from UK RoI 895.4444_Installer.exe (on pc) to sd card

TAASE screen came up, (permission to use pc given) and 2 files downloaded.

Placed sd card in Rider......

Problem with map you cannot use this map on this device..... -622

As before.
Where is it going wrong?

Anyone got a spare working sd card I could borrow to test?

Please download the current version of FastActivate and run it from the root of your device.

Fast activate 4.11.2012 used.
Dropped onto sd card and executed. Says navcore already patched and says map xxxxx meta => .dct ok

Not even going past the splash screen now.
Anyone know how much a new set of updated maps would be?

I'm out of this thread now, if a user does not want help I can't help.
Why do I say download the latest version? A quick check and you would have realised your version is old.
We are on page three for a problem that is no problem.
Do the right thing, start from scratch, use the latetest files and follow the instructions provided already.
You need a patched NC and a map with a valid .DCT in it, no idea why you do everything to make your live harder :(
Instead of spoon feeding a bit of common sense and reading often works better.

Ok, I am grateful for the help you provided.
I had stated the version I used as i only downloaded it recently and the result was exactly the same as the version before. Apologies for not looking and downloading again.
I have started from scratch numerous times even switching cards and file locations on my pc to avoid confusing them. I have downloaded the maps and navcore twice in case of a faulty download.
I am not asking for help out of pleasure as it brings none. I have updated a navigo and a Windows mobile with some little help and not found any issues when "I got my head round to how it works"
Sorry for being a nuisance to you.
Again, thank you for your help.

It is always the same procedure:
Install NC, install maps use FA to fix it.
In case of incompatible devices we have the SE ttsystems and complete basicpacks in the NC section.
You got the map, the NC, FA and the X-ttsystem according to your previous postings.
So I have no idea how get your devices working remotely from here...
1. delete
2. NC
3. map
4. FA for the map (keep ttgo.bif)
5. X-ttsystem
6. fire up

All that takes about 15 minutes on a slow PC ;)

Hi, Back again.
I will retry again next few days. Just a quick info on a test I did.
I downloaded NC 9.201 (5295) just to try and see what would happen.
This, although not working properly, it has accepted the map without the dreaded Problem with map you cannot use this map on this device..... -622.
It actually loads the map onto screen.
I will go give 9.205 a go again next few days.
