TT One 3rd Edition Memory Hack

Postby leonog » Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:55 pm

Hello Everyone

I have been reading about the memory hack in TT One 3rd Edition where you solder a SD Card
My question is: does anyone knows the size limit of the SD Card I can put?

My info
Navcore: 9.5.10 NC (emulated from DownUnder35)
32MB RAM
Current Map: Iberia
Map to put after memory hack: Europe - almost 4GB needed for it

Thank you

Best Regards

Depending on which bootloader is in use, from 5.5022 up till 32GB must be possible.

Hello pe1agp
My bootloader is BootLoaderVersion=55277, so I possibly I can install an 8GB MicroSD Card with adapter and make it work

Thank you

Yes, that's correct...as pe1agp says, with that bootloader you'll be able to use up to a 32GB card

But someone else should already have the bootloader updated, because I don't assume 5.5277 is the original for a One with limited memory

Perhaps

When my friend gave me the TT One, it was missing a screw already, so I presume someone may have already tampered it. I i'm not sure but I don't remember if I also updated the BootLoader. I remember asking if I could update but they told it was ok already

Also do you recommend any update for more stability and so on or keep it that way?

EDIT: You recommend a SD Card or a MicroSD Card with an adapter?

Thank you

What ever you like, most devices latest using micro SD cards, because of that it's may be better to buy a micro with an adapter.
But has the modification already taken place and an SD adapter already soldered in it?
There you already have the choice of midi or micro.
My choice would then be micro.
But why do all that effort, it is not very easy to solder something on all those very small points.
A second hand GO is much more convenient and slightly faster.
Those are some things to think about.

Once you are used to such a device it is difficult to switch.
So why not start installing a micro adapter, but in such a way that you can easily switch micro SD.
That way you could switch from Truck to Camper or whatever you want.
I am afraid that I no longer have the manual on my server, unfortunately I had an accident with an HDD, but it may be found here.

Some pictures and info are here:

You're welcome.
That looks interesting, but you will still have to solder first.
I have sometimes fitted a GO 910 with an SD slot when the HDD started reading errors.
But the frame was already prepared for this and the flat cable could be clamped in the connector, only then the GO 910 suddenly became a GO 710.

Incidentally, not all One devices are exactly the same inside and you will have to look for other information again.
There has even been someone who has replaced the entire memory chip, but it does require extra special tools.

Goodluck.

I think I will try to solder and the put some hot glue on it like they do on some parts and conectores (since it's not conducting)
Regarding the case, I will see if I have some kind of space where I can try to drill some mini holes and then drill the rest to make the opening
Also have to see the size of the adapter. If it's too big I have to forget the idea and use an SD adapter
