TT One 3rd ed. 1 GB - installing maps with 1 GB

Postby aangekil » Fri May 08, 2015 4:27 pm

Greetings from Portugal.

A friend asked me if I could update his tt one 3rd ed. with 1GB.
I've already done the backup and patched with FastActivate.
Now, I think I would DL map "Europe_1GB_West_945_6243 with Automatic Installer & Patcher" since it has only 846MB (topic16880.html)
or "Europe_1GB_South _945_6243 with Automatic Installer & Patcher" with 924MB.

My question is whether the 1GB of my friends' tt will be enough to install one of the new maps.
In addition, since the unit is a bit old I also dl general-discussions-about-tomtom-f81/navcore-510-t12862.html.
Should I begin with this one?

Any suggestions would be appreciated - I don't want to mess up with something that it is not mine...
Thx

do a complete backup (as U already have) and in case of any mishappens you could easily restore it. :024:
don't know if the map extracted is too big for the device, but try

If the old map is larger than the new map, you are good to go. If the new map is larger, connect the TT to your puter. Open Windows Explorer. Scroll to the drive being used by the TT. Right click it & click Properties. The General tab will show you how much free space the devise has. If the new map size difference is less than the free space, you are good to go.

Hi again

It worked: installed map 'Europe_South_945_6243' v945.6243' and remained 6,43 MB.

However, to update with mapshare caustiously I deleted some voices but it's working fine and now still have 22,3MB.

Just one more question, pl: the TT one have 8.016 navcore.

Is it wise to update for 9.4xx or 9.5xx?

Do I have space to do it?

Thx once more.

Yes, updating to 9.510 would be possible thanks to the software by Downunder but the requires more space onto the device.
And, beside that, your new map would not benefit from the new software.

You could perform the navcore update to 9.510 and install a small map (i.e. Benelux) with ALG but the added functionality would be heavily compensated with less country coverage.
So only in this case you could opt for this 'higher' navcore.
