ONE XL Help

Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:17 pm

Hello

Im a new user, found this forum while browsing, I wasent even thinking in updating it, didn’t know that was possible either, and i need help, im a bit confused (i bit …. A LOT) lol

So be patience, never done this b4 and English is not my main language, my device and speech are in Portuguese

This is my device for best of my knowledge (its an oldie).

Code:
TomTom ONE XL (V9) (ID when I connect the usb)

XL (30 Series) / 330 - 2GB (from tom tom site)

(from inside the device)

navcore v8.010 (9369/080529)
os 190943
gps v1.21
boot 5.5011
4EG0.001.01
32 Mb Ram

Note this device has no SD card.

My current map version is Western and Central Europe 2 GB v845.2666, this device has never been patched, that is the last official tomtom map I downloaded.

I want to update this, found a map Western and Central Europe 2 GB v880.3810, downloaded it (it was a pain :s ), found out that I need to patch my navcore with a software called BBS tools, ok so far I think.

Problem is, the charts say this map is not compatible with my navcore 8.010 and 880.3811 has no 2GB map. Would the one that has no “2 GB” also work?

I want to know which navcore is safe to use with my device, or is there a better map, or …. Essentially I need pointers, how to proceed, I don’t understand this navcore, mine is 8, there are v9, are they also compatible, no, then what v8 should I use? Are all v8 compatible with my device, will I need to change the boot loader, etc ….

Also, from what I understand, I wont be able to use TT Home2 again right?

Plz help, this is all very confusing

Ps – hope I placed this in the right place

Bad news. ALL of the 880 Edition Western & Central Europe maps are larger than 2GB & will not fit on your ONE XL. This includes the 2GB versions. What area do you need to cover?

hummm ... did not noticed that (size) .... so ... errr ... u telling me tomtom is trying to sell me a map for 70 euros that dont fit on my device?

my map always been Western and Central Europe 2GB, im from portugal, i guess southern Europe is enough.

3. See answer #1
4. Yes. No.
5. Not true. You can use TT Home normally.
6. Yes & No. Some of the maps have gotten so large that TT is issuing "Zone Maps". [Please Register or Login to download file]
Europe South 880.3810 is a "full featured" Zone map.
7. We use FastActivate 24.11.2011 {1.8.8.0}

i see, and one can change the map zone anytime, thats cool :) thanks
if i could add UK/Irland to that map, would be awesome.
found the SE_Navcore.8.412.1236_32mb_device, downloading now.
Will download the map also
then i'll try to update my device

Thanks for your help :)

ok, so just to let the ppl that help me know

its done, seems to be working

1 - i backed up my entire tomtom
2 - formatted my tomtom
3 - copied the new navcore data to it (SE_Navcore.8.412.1236_32mb_devices)
4 - copied the new map to it (Western_Europe_1GB_880_3868)
5 - copied the voices and scanners to it
6 - used tool to patch it and activate stuff (FastActivate_24.11.2011)
7 - fixed the gps thingy with another tool because i wasn't getting any gps (Bobby TTool)

and now it seems all its working
it even gets the gps satellites faster then before :)

Congrats!!!

2. We never recommend formatting a device except in the most severe cases.
4. Why did you use a stripped down, no feature map, instead of a full featured one?

Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:51 am

well, its the most recent map and also was faster to download

for first try was ok :) now that i "know" what im doing ill get another map. As long the roads are there, im happy hehehehe

i do have a bug or 2

my shutdown splash picture wont show anymore (and its there)
and every time i turn it on a message for safe driving and not use the divice etcetcetc always appears, erritating.

apart from that, just love all the new options :)

ps - ever considered using torrents .... no???

1. Are you going to TT Home, Images & icons, Shut-down images?

2. You should only get the "Legal notice" once, every time you disconnect your unit from your computer.

3. It has been suggested a few times, but torrents don't work well for Navitotal.

Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:32 pm

1 - yes, its installed, the thing is, i think, it shuts down so fast that the picture wont even appear, really ... just a touch on the button and its off.

2 - yes, i realized that after my post was made hehehehe

3 - that's a shame :(

btw, ive changed my map for a bigger with more options, got IQ routes and ALG thingy. i think its all working. :)

If it did not work, I would not have recommended it to you. We have put 9.205 on dozens of ONE XLs.
