One - Switch-on Problem

One - Switch-on Problem

Postby RodA » Sun Nov 21, 2010 10:57 am

I have a One that has stopped working after I tried to update it using TomTom Home. Now on switch-on the screen comes on light grey, but nothing else?

I've tried the reset but it won't do anything, any suggestions (other than don't use TomTom Home) please?

Thanks

There are many ONE versions. Which do you have? What did you try to update with TT home?

It's a 4N00.001.

Home said it needed a software update, I think it was the Application?

Thanks

4N00.001 = TomTom One V1

Have you tried doing a hard reset ??
  • Hold pin-hole reset for 30 sec's
  • Hold on/off for 5 sec's untill black config screen comes up
  • Press pin-hole reset 1ce
  • Turn on as normall

also did you inturuppt tomtom home when it was upgrading your navcore/software ?

Just tried that, other than the green on/off light there is nothing at all.

I thought initially I could see the screen change colour on switch-on, but I can't even see that now, it appears completely dead except the green light.

You did not answer my second question ? did you inturrupt the new software install from tt home, i fear you did inturrupt the bootloader upgrade this can prove to be dangerous you should never interrupt this process.

Yes it's possible I did, but I can't even see the device in Windows Explorer to do a complete re-install now?

Don't the ONE V1's have an SD card ? If so maybe you could try the card in an external card reader. Just a thought.

Yes it does, but I don't think it's the card that's the problem. Normally when you switch on without the card inserted it comes on and tells you to insert the card.

This one is not even doing that. I think it's either there's 'start-up' software in the actual unit that corrupted or a hardware problem.

I think it's time for a new one!

If you interrupted the install of the new Navcore nothing too bad would happen, but if you also got a new bootloader and interrupted the installation of it than your device might be bricked.
Try to connect it to the PC,don't turn it on yet....
Hold the reset for 15 sec and after that try to switch the TT on.

If it is still ok it will connect directly to the PC.
If not charge it for a few hours and do the 30sec. reset again.
I hope that helps otherwise it really is time for a new one....

Thanks, I tried it all, no good.

I guess I did interrupt the Bootloader as all I get now is the green light!

Thanks for your help.

Sorry to read the bad news. We will leave this thread open a bit longer, in case something should come up.
