Please tell me if I'm on the right path to upgrade my GO720

2. I agree.
3. I agree it's normal - if routing is active. But if routing is active then my point #2 shouldn't be happening. If routing is not active then it shouldn't give me the option to cancel routing because once it's inactive the cancel button is grayed out. But in my case it's not.
4. True it was off when I sent you the files, but I also tested when it was on.
5. Again, seriously? So if I route to the store, but not on my way home, it's normal for the GPS to display arrows showing me where to turn, even though the arrows were for my trip to the store? And the only way to clear the arrows is to go into the menu and cancel the route? (Even though you say it does not think it's still routing me)?

1. Seriously!!! It's telling you that you have reached your destination & guidance has ceased.
5. Seriously!!! It's telling you that you have reached your destination & guidance has ceased. You can use Command & Control to clear the completed route.

Your unit is performing normally.

As far as I can remember every (at least) V9 NC shows exactly the same routing "problems" you complain about.
You can also read about that [Please Register or Login to download file] , [Please Register or Login to download file] as a quick Google search would show.

Thanks - I did an extensive search and a lot of reading and you're correct many people have issues with routing, but it seems the vast majority have the following problem:
"If you reach a destination completely.. the tomtom will automatically clear the route.. if you miss by a small margin.. the route stays active and gets recalculated everytime you switch on."
This is not my problem - mine doesn't recalculate - it gives no routing directions either verbally or visually. The time & distance to go values just freeze.

BUT, then in the link you provided (and a couple others) I did see the following:
" My 910 doesnt "clear" the route when you reach your destination, but it does stop giving directions. It simply leaves a breadcrumb trail on the screen showing where you went to get there, and the destination flag."
This sounds like the issue I'm having.

Considering that the handful of complaints with this issue received a reply similar to as follows:
"I had the Tomtom VIA 1530TM and it worked correctly, route cleared everytime ... Tomtom should have fixed this issue on the XXL models."
AND that my initial install of 9.430 didn't exhibit this, I've concluded that:
A) The issue is real and not due to my limited experience with TT.
B) It's not normal (since the majority don't have that problem). I literally only found about 3-4 complaints that are similar to mine. Found zero complaints with people who didn't have this "feature" and wished they did, and found zero explanation from TT indicating that this "feature" was purposefully included in the newer navcores as a benefit.
C) Considering this is a computer that uses an OS not created by TT, hardware not built in-house by TT, and using maps not created by TT, I don't find it so far fetched that it may possibly have a bug. I'm not knocking TT, but if my Toyota makes black smoke, and I only see 5 complaints of this online, it won't convince me that it's normal and Toyota designed it to make black smoke. I'd either sell the car (some people returned the TT with this problem), or live with it, or try to repair it (as I'm doing here). :)

You have been told that your unit is performing normally. If you don't accept that, then so be it. The Navitotal TT Team has done all that we can do for you.
