Is it possible to have the "ecoroute" option on Go 720?

Is it possible to have the "ecoroute" option on Go 720?

Postby linguisstic » Sat Dec 31, 2022 12:19 pm

I used to have a Start 25 a few years ago, that unfortunately failed during Tomtom Home map updates, and what I liked about that was that in the routing options it had an "ecoroute" option, which is like a compromise between fastest route and shortest, and in general I found the routes that option offered to be the most logical and intelligent in my experience.

However, as the Start 25 is bricked, I had to go back to using my old Go 720, which only has "Fastest route", "shortest route", etc, in the routing options, and no "ecoroute", which is a significant limitation for me. I wondered if it was a navcore problem, but I checked the ttgo.bif file on my sd card, and it says I have navcore version 9541, so the latest for that device I believe, yet it still does not offer the "ecoroute" option present on the Start 25.

Is there any way I could get this option on my Go 720?

Thanks for any help and happy new year to you all.

I've just noticed that the navcore version for the Start 25 is 9.057, which is obviously different to the 720, explaining the difference in options. Would it be possible to install navcore 9.057 on the Go 720?

No, sadly neither of these are possible however you might be able to resurrect the Start 25 by having a look at the following tutorial:

Give it a try it has eco mode.
Download and unpack with winrar (5.0 or higher) etc.

Thanks for the replies so far. How would I install this to the Go 720? I've never manually installed a navcore before, only used Tomtom home to update to the latest version. Do I simply copy and paste it over the current files on the device?

So I understand that your old Start 25 has free lifetime maps.
If so you are not familiar with the procedure to use free maps on a Go 720.
Following the next procedure

1) Make a backup of your Device and delete the content.
--
2) Unpack the* navcore (winrar ) and place folders and files on your Device.
--
3) Reset The Device (minimal 15 sec) and start it till the announcement "No map found"
--
4) Copie the selected map to your Device in his own folder.
If you open the map you see the individual files and probably a folder (brand).
Not a map in a map.
(plain map no speedcams,poi,etc)

How to read the chart.

--
5) Download FastActivate.
http://www.navitotal.com/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=19452
Copy FastActivate.exe and
Integrated meta.txt to the
root of your device

1. Update Meta.txt (after that don't quit the program)
2. Patch Map
3. Done - quit FastActivate
---
If you want the activate another map after you have quit the program use the following procedure:
1. Update Meta.txt
2. Patch Maps
3. Done - quit FastActivate

6) Give a 15 sec reset and start the device if everything works fine
just then you can ad speedcams etc to the map

Thanks for the instructions, the navcore and maps installed and activated perfectly. Makes my old Go 720 much more useable.
