Infinat wrote:1. Did that (used AutoActivate) but I now get 'you cannot use this map on this device: Europe_1GB_West'.
(Its a TomTom XL).
2.I first ran AutoActivate from my PC, then from the TomTom's map folder - no diff:(
(AutoActivate seemed to think it had uploaded the Meta data okay).
3.Sorry - but any other ideas please?

1. This message is telling you that the map is not patched.
2. Run it again with both FA 1.8.8.1 & a copy of the device's ttgo.bif in the map folder

Still no joy :( Is it because my current map is 'Western_Europe_1GB' and not 'Europe_1GB_West' ?

Anyway, I need to use the TomTom today, so I am reverting it and not trying anything else today :(

I read back thru this whole thread & don't see a mention of your XL's navcore version or if it has been patched.

Its Navcore is 8014, and nothing has been patched. The full details are:

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom XL
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XL (v9)
BootLoaderVersion=55019
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8014
ApplicationVersion=9372
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...
TTNAVIGATOR.BIF:
Not Found...

I worry that it says CurrentMap= (nothing) but ...

1. You can confirm whether the map is patched or not, by checking for a .meta.dct file in the map folder.

Go here: AutoActivate & FastActivate 1.8.8.1 Read the instructions & select FastActivate_04.02.2012_Premium_edition_v1.8.8.1.rar.
Run the patcher, clicking all 4 buttons, 1 at a time, from left to right.‎

Thanks - That has updated the map fine :) - But I had to reset my 'Home' address, and it has lost all 'Recent Destinations', and maybe it has lost Speed Camera data too. But thanks for your time :)

You favourites and recent destinations are stored in the file mapsettings.cfg - take it from your backup.
Speedcams can be found in the corresponding forum section.

Done that thanks, although the 'corresponding forum' has been unobtainable today :chok_mini:
However I got speedcam data from Links to other GPS Forums is not allowed!! and live in hopes it will be ok :crazy:

Scared me at first when I could only see Gibraltar address! But figured it in the end :)

I have been in the "corresponding forum" AKA TomTom Official Speedcams 3.2.12 numerous times today with no problem.

I had thought there was a post-megaupload problem going on, but that seems not to be it.

I have been investigating, and discovered that 'they' have been 'upgrading' my broadband,
and apparently that can cause temporary disruption of service before it all settles down :scratch_one-s_head_
