RDS TMC Receiving

RDS TMC Receiving

Postby Ratsea » Thu Jan 24, 2013 9:31 am

I was following a thread on RDS TMC receiving being successfully enabled on a GO500. I have a GO300 and am trying to do the same. (http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?11918-RDS-TMC-TomTom-Go-500)
I have an almost identical setup with Map 900.4602, NC 9.485 and x50skin (thanks to Downunder).
The bootloaders are different, mine is 5.5238 vs the working system is 5.5279 - question would this make a difference, I thought if it booted, don't mend it!! We also have the same receiver.
My Go can see the receiver OK as the 'enabling RDS TNC' pops up when it is plugged in, but it just searches. I have also tried the other version of the mctx.dat file.
It may be just poor receiption here in Devon, UK.
Any comments? Thanks.

If you get a traffic bar then you know the receiver is working with your TT.
As for the reception: try to enter the frquency of a know station manually. You can check with a normal radio if the reception is clear ;)
If still no joy and you only see the station search, you need to find a working mctx.dat, but the version I posted (from the 8.351) should work just fine.
However you can try the one from the original CAB of the 9.465 as well.

Yippee!! Got it working, and a combination of mctx.dat and poor reception. I have got it working with the mctx.dat version that is very small (44bytes). This was suggested as a solution to this problem so I don't know where it comes from. I don't think the receiver it very sensitive either as it does work in the house downstairs - (v old house with 3ft walls so not too surprising).

Thanks for good support again.
