RDS TMC TomTom Go 500

Postby pollywall1 » Wed Jan 02, 2013 1:47 pm

Is it possible to get a receiver working with a TomTom Go 500 ?
If so what is required apart from the receiver itself ?

Thanks, any information appreciated.

Not to my knowledge as these models came out before TT introduced TMC to their devices.
But maybe another user with a 500 that tried it can confirm?

If it has a USB connector and you know someone that let's you test his receiver before you buy one:
Install the the 9.485 with Memory Boost, plug the TMC receiver in (is needed make sure it has power!) and start the TT.
After the long initial start and the greeting stuff you should see a Traffic bar on the map screen - at least in X20/X30 emulation.
No traffic bar or no connector for a suitable receiver means no traffic info.

Hi,
Just downloaded and installed 9.485 with memory boost.
I used your automatic installation program, brilliant and great music too.
Install went without a hitch but I get no option to change the emulation by using the skin chooser as it doesnt appear on any of the 3 pages of the menu options.
Anything I can try ?

Having just installed the Navcore 9.485 with memory boost, I tried the options on each emulation.
The best for me was the x50.
Used the command and control function ie call home and worked great.
Thought I would try to get the navigate by voice command working but the spoken address icon was greyed out.
Looked around on the internet for why this could be and found that I may have some cspeech files missing for this to work. I was using UK MAP 900 4608.

I thought I would try another map which might be compatible with voice navigation
I installed North America 715 1712 2GB as I believed this map had the necassary files for me to try out.
The spoken address icons were still greyed out.
Can anybody advise me of what may be the problem and what UK or Europe maps are compatible with the voice navigation.

Every UK and EU map with a meta code will work.
The map chart will tell you what map includes Cspeech ;)

Downunder, Receiver arrived today.
After connnecting usb to TomTom and powering up the receiver was immediately recognised.
Locked to green in 10 secs.
I was using your emulation on x50.
Brilliant.
Thank you
