Reanimate TomTom Go 720

Wed Sep 15, 2010 2:45 pm

I've bought a TomTom Go 720 device with problems after updating (no GPS signal) was the message of the seller.

Starting the device it keeps restarting after a minute.
I would like to reinstall the device.
What navcore version do you advice?
What procedure do you advise to solve the problems?

If there is a navcore & map on the 720, confirm that both have been properly patched. If yes, do a ""Hard Reset" by pressing the reset button on the bottom of the case for 30 seconds. Then DOWNLOAD TOMTOM CLEAR FLASH TOOL HERE and run it. Boot the device. If no help, wipe the unit clean. Go here, TomTom Automatic Navcore Installation, read the instructions & choose SE 9.205. If still no help, load a navcore & map onto a SD card. This will tell you if the internal memory is bad.

I've tried all your suggestions but nothing seems to work.
Nor the instructions in the tutorials doesn't work.
By the way it's a 720 device and the cleaning tool was named "ttgo510-710.clear_flash" is this correct ?
What did you mean by "Go here, .... SE 9.205"

Now there is a navcore version (8.412.1236) on the internal memory and a correct patched map.
The device displays no GPS, are you in a building? and on the satelite screen the orange/black circle in the right upper corner is not "rotating"

And still the device is restarting over and over again !

There is also no startup sound, maybe this gives someone an idea !

Any other suggestions ?

Thank you for your response.
I have to wait 20 minutes for the download so it takes a while...
Do I have to download the ...32MB... file ?
I thought my device had 64 MB RAM ?

One additional question:
If I perform a hard reset (30 sec) the device keeps the settings like selected voice and car, is this normal?
How do I notice the hard reset has been performed?

Wed Sep 15, 2010 9:46 pm

well Hard Reset reverts TOMTOM to Factory default settings....

SO usually, it should ask you for your LANGUAGE

Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:09 pm

It doesn't ??!!

How exactly do I perform a hard reset ?
Put device on and hold the reset button for 30 seconds ?

Did you link to the right file in the previous post because it is a 64MB device ?

Thanx in advance

Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:11 pm

yes, that file works on 64MB devices....

and look on the back of your TT device,,

you should have a Reset-Pin-Hole....

use that to make your hard reset...

put something like a needle in the hole for 30 secondz

Thats what I did.
The device reboots and start like normal.
There is also no startup sound !

Is it normal when I press the reset button the screen blanks immediatly ?

can you start fresh?

Connect TomTom to PC

format your TomTom to FAT32

the use TomTom CLear Flash TooL on it

then boot it once (this creates the ttgo.bif file)

then install your NavCore using auto-installer i gave you

then put your MAP folder in your TomTom's root

boot your tomtom
