Received TT 720

Postby Downunder35m » Tue May 31, 2011 3:29 am

If you bought a truck map for a GO720/730 from TT your device get's registered as a truck device and Home will install the latest truck Navcore as standard.
Same if you buy them as so called "Truck Edition" : [Please Register or Login to download file]
So both, the 8.351 and the 8.398 are official.
Only thing is still that Home install the truck Navcore but can simulate it.

Actually, just having an outdated TRUCK navcore on a Go7000/9000, go520/720/920, or Go530/730/930 , no matter if it was bought from TT, or downloaded from a forum, will cause TT Home to update it to the current 8.398 version.

1. TT has a business/work division, that produces Europe Truck maps & Truck navcores for that industry. Using these maps & navcores, truckers, bus drivers, etc can enter their vehicle's height, width, weight etc & TT will plan a route that avoids roads, bridges, etc that are not suitable for their vehicle.
2. You have a GO720 with the current Truck navcore 8.398 on it.
3. 8.398 will run normal maps. You won't gain anything by using this navcore. I don't know if you will lose any features by using it.

This is a simplified explanation, but you get the picture. Keep in mind Downunder has 9.004 on his 730 & 9.205 is on my 720.

ahh right i c. You see when i got the tt720, this is what was installed and then TT home automatically updated it to the necessary software. But can having the truck navcore affect things like speed, performance, memory, processing power, battery? If so, would you recommend that i change the navcore & maps to different versions...if so, which ones do you recommend?

There should be no such problem on any 720.
If you want to change the Navcore you can try the 9.205 or the 9.004 - both tested and recommended by the team.

hi guys, i just wanted to give you a quick update. I ran the clear flash tool approx 5 times that day. Today i went to seaside and did an 80 mile journey, no problem :)

I'm extremely happy with the official navcore and most likely will stick with it for a long time as it runs perfect and features wise, navcore v9.004 or v9.205 aren't that much of a big deal, so i guess i'm over the moon.

Its all thanks to you guys for your brilliant advice.

THANK YOU AGAIN!

By "official navcore", I take it that you mean TRUCK 8.398. Keep in mind that you can get a 4GB SDHC card, load it with any navcore & map that you wish to experiment with. When inserted into your 720, it becomes the default system, & does not effect your internal navcore & map. Remove the card & you are back to the internal setup.

The TT Team sez, "You are Welcome". Enjoy!!

thanks very much for that advice mate. I only have a 1gb sd card, so i'm wondering is there a way i could setup the navcore on the sd card, but point it to maps on the internal mem?

A 720/730 will use both internal and SD memory at the same time.
So all voices, maps and so on that you have on the the internal memory can be used when booting from a SD card.
This gives you the option to run the original stuff on the internal memory and all "experiments" on the SD card.
Even if something stops working on the road you only remove the SD card and reboot.

ok, what i've done is copied all files/folders from a 9.051 backup i made a week ago, but i missed out the following folders:-

zip
uk & roi map (cameras were also missed out as they were in this folder)

But now the TT is getting a weak signal as its showing approx 7 the satellites, but they are greyed out due to low signal. As soon as i put it onto official, they work again.

This to me seems to be related to either a navcore issue or that i need to do some sort of a gps fix....how can i fix this?

Copy everything from your internal memory, except the map folder, to your card.

Download [Please Register or Login to download file] Unzip & copy everything to your card, overwriting any common files.

Download SE_ttsystem.9.051.503855 Unzip & copy the ttsystem & PNDNavigator files to your card, overwriting any common files. With the card inserted in your 720, reboot the unit.
