I'm having a problem reloading software on my Tomtom XL. I've reformatted the drive and would like to start fresh as if the GPS device were new (to be honest I'm not confident about my backed up data).

This thread is of no use to you at this time. It is a "work ariund" for a TT Home "Operate my device" issue.

To get it into "original" state:
Install the latest official NC using Home, add a map and patch all with FastActivate.
To get something a little bit better:
Select one of my Navcore installers and either install the version for 32mb devices, or if you get sound problems with that use the version for the XL models.
Add a map and activate as usual.
