Replacement Advice

Giving my 720 to my daughter and was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what to replace it with. Something comparable or better and if possible why you are recommending that unit. Thanks!

This all depends on how much you want to spend on a unit , at the moment the new GO 1000 is due for release very soon you can pre-order them on tomtom.com now, if i was to buy a new unit now i would buy one of these they seem very nice, But apart from that i think the 720 (wich you are getting rid of) or the 920 are my 2 favorite units at the moment :)

There is a comparison chart here if you want to compare units http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2431-Tomtom-model-comparison-chart

Thanks, I need to look into that GO 1000, I saw it on the chart but their wasn't much info on it. I buy most stuff at Newegg and they don't have the 720's or the 920 listed anymore and I really wasn't sure about the newer XXL models. They do have the 730 & 740 but for the price I bet I should check into the GO 1000.

Yes if you are going to spend the money the go 1000 is a good buy it has 4GB internal flash memory, 128mb RAM, New Navcore 10, 16:9 (4.3") Capacitive widescreen, and for £279.99 it seems like it is going to be a good device, as i remember when i bought my go 720 i paid £350 for it.

After I have done a little searching it seems that they haven't even stated a realese date here in the US yet. Not even any mention of it on their web site. Some info from the UK or Europe, [Please Register or Login to download file] While the specs sound promising it sounds like they are locking this thing down. "No more desktop access to file system, the HOME client is now web based and as yet we have no method for installing custom POIs". I might just have to wait till more reviews come out or keep the 720 and buy her a cheap unit.

Sadly the unit due for release in just a few days is Europe version not US, but you can read about it here [Please Register or Login to download file] , and i am shure that some 1 will find out how to crack it and get into the filesystem , we have to just wait and see. But as Tendriver said above, stick to the 720 these are great units and have no real need to upgrade to a newer model yet ;)

That is what I wanted to know, I just wasn't sure about replacing the 720 with one of the newer xxl models. For the money I will just get a new 720 and give her my old one, thanks for the advice!
