Rider v2 - bootloader & WNRO fix

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired an old TomTom Rider v2 that has Navcore 7.540, bootloader 5.5012, and the WNRO issue so it won't acquire satellites. It came with the original 512MB SD card and it isn't large enough to hold the latest 1145 UK map so I'll need to buy a bigger card.

Some questions:

- Which Navcore should I update to? Is Navcore 9.500 (32MB) still the go to for older Rider devices?
- What bootloader should I use? I see SDHC SD cards require bootloader 5.5112 or higher to work with the Rider v2.
- Which WNRO fix is best for 32MB devices? I have used TTconv on 64MB devices but I see on the GitHub page ([Please Register or Login to download file] ) that it doesn't play well with some 32MB devices.

I see there are a lot of new tools available for download and installing maps/speedcams, thanks to everyone for the continued support of these older devices!

Thanks for that - I managed to download it.

In the end I decided to use bootloader 5.5242 and the Rider V2 booted up without issue. It is now happily reading and writing to an 8GB SDHC Sandisk Ultra Class 10 card, although the USB transfer rate is extremely slow (700 kbs) so I pulled the card and installed v1145 Europe map directly onto the card.

Navcore 9.500 for 32MB devices is working well and looks considerably better than the old v7 Navcore.

For the WNRO fix I used the firmware v3.6.0 fix (https://www.navitotal.com/tutorials/wnro-ultimate-solution-for-x10-x20-x30-7000-t21440.html) and the Rider v2 is now happily achieving satellite lock in about 30 seconds.

The reason I wanted a Rider v2 is because I already had an Urban Rider (v3) and its 2GB internal storage wasn't large enough to hold the modern Europe maps, even using the map zones. The Rider v2 fits the Urban Rider mount so I can swap over the units when I am touring in the continent.

Hi Chris,

I am glad I was able to help you, Wetransfer was the easiest solution for me at the moment, the forwarding of ports in the new router gives many problems and has not been solved to my satisfaction.

I also rode around with the Rider v2 for a long time, I think from 2010, until a few years ago.
I only started riding again after my retirement in 2009, do the math, now 80 and I still ride my BMW R 1100 RT with great regularity, especially when I go to the city in Rotterdam to do some shopping.

If you can get a Rider 550 for a reasonable price, you should definitely not pass it up, the Rider v2 was often on a somewhat fast route with many bends often a bend behind.
