Hi, I have a Rider 2 running on App 7.091. What is the latest version of Western Europe map that will run on my device?

So how do I actually download the maps?
None of the links seem to work!

Is the Rider v2 still in its original condition?
If so then a bootloader update is needed
After this update, which will contain a small risk, SDHC cards are possible up to 32GB, after which it is no longer important which map you want to use.
A flash update of the GPS is also required under the same conditions as the bootloader update.
New operating software will then be version 9.500 or 9.501 and for example the full Europe map can then be used.
The necessary files you need are no problem

P.S.
You'll find all necessary files including an instruction video at the link below:

[Please Register or Login to download file]

P.P.S.
The instruction video is only for NAV3 devices.

Thanks p1agp,
Yes I guess it is still original. It was fully updated by TomTom Home while still under their support.
Current OS is 7.091 32mb RAM with Western Europe v1020.9248 map.
It has an 8GB SDHC card in it.
I'll check out the tutorials, but I'd appreciate help on the bootloader, and flash upgrade please.

Hi pe1agp,
Forgive me, I'm new to all this ...... so I'm downloading files (that I think I need) from your Mega site... do I need "TTActivator-v1.6.rar", coz it won't download. Contains a virus?

Also, what version of Bootloader am I using?

I sent the above in a PM, but it's still sitting in my Outbox!

Start with reading the 7 Simple Steps.txt

7 simple steps to update your device with the latest map

To update your device with the latest map, follow these simple steps:

1) VERY IMPORTANT: Connect your device to your computer via USB. Using Windows Explorer, open your TomTom drive and backup the complete contents of your TomTom.

2) Check your navcore version. You can do this either on the device menu under Version Info, or you can check the navcore version in TomTom Home when the device is connected to your computer, or by opening the ttgo.bif file with notepad.
Try to find Navcore 9.510, which work on most devices, it's always possible to install another

3) Check which map is compatible with your navcore using the latest compatibility, found on most forums

4) Get the map which fits you best and which also fits on your device
Delete the old map folder

5) Extract the map using WinRaR or similar.
Copy across the new map folder into the root of the device.
Make sure when you open the map folder it only contains the map files, not another folder within a folder.

6) Download the latest version of FastActivate from the FastActivate thread:
Extract the file and copy across FastActivate.exe to the TomTom drive (the root of the device).

7) Run FastActivate.exe from the TomTom drive, clicking on the first 3 options in order, waiting for each to complete:
Update meta, patch maps, patch navcore.

Great thanks .... you mentioned in your original reply about Flashing the GPS unit, is this to boost memory?
How do I sort that as it isn't included in the 7 steps?

You need an empty SD card and extract he flash file to it
Then reset and start your device, mind you not to run out of power
The same for the bootloader, but you may use the old SD card you already have and overwrite the file system
Mind you the file system is without an extension and you need it only once
When you discover into the future with any other update for the navcore the file system, delete it when you've finished this update
After all updates you may use SDHC cards up till 32GB

Hello, could I please bump this up? I am trying to use an old TomTom Rider 2. The hardware seems working fine. I have app version 7.901 loaded with bootloader 5.5012. I have also updated on TomTom home with the last gpsfix. In order to backup my device, Windows asked me to repair the disk. I have now backed it up but since then the device only reads the Canary Islands maps and not anymore the Western Europe maps, probably the sd card is corrupted somehow. I have another card with the US maps and it reads them fine. Of course all these maps are outdated and I have no intention to use them but I would like to update the device. i have seen a 7 steps guide but it is not entirely clear to me. pe1agp, could you please give me more hints?
