Route66 Chicago

Done as you suggested, the circle in the upper left did spin initially, for about 10 secs, then stopped. There is no time showing on the right. Tried lowering the baud anyway but without success. I don't know if this is relevant, but when I go through the configure screens it seems to default back to 'SC2440 usb Cable' even though 'GPS-COM' had been selected.
Any thoughts?

Done as you suggested. The circle on the right spun for about 10 secs' then stopped (nothing touched or altered during the 10 secs').
There is no clock on the right.
I have noticed that after selecting 'GPS-COM' the unit seems to default to 'SC2449 USB Cable'.
Anyway, no satellites found, same when baud rate is lowered.
Any thoughts?
Apart from that it seems fine, no freezing and responds quickly.

In post 2 is an complete new one. It take a little longer to start up before you got TomTom. I can,t find no errors so give it a try.

Hello,
downloaded and installed (post 2), and got the same outcome as in post 17, not finding satellites but with a turning disc.
Just tried: repeat download and install, different baud rates, fresh SD card, checked the unit with original software, runs OK.
So close, but no cigar.

If the disk run then the utc time left van that icon must work to (seconds).
If only the disk run it don,t works. I don,t know if you had the baudrate on 2400 or 4800 or very high 57.600
When the baudrate is fine the disk and time has to react in a short time
ImageI don,t know if it works.
===
Then the last idea.
If it works then it starts directly without a menu.
Unpack and place the folder Route66 with his content on empty SD Card.
Start the device and when it works it should start till the announcement No Map found.
After that the map on it and activate

After this, I am at the end of the line. Unfortunately no more ideas

SORTED !!! (just before post 20)
Set the baud rate at 1200, and reset. Satellites picked up almost straight away. I have been able to increase the baud to 38400, which I had tried before without success ) and the unit seems to work fine.
Many thanks for your time and persistence. I am In awe of your knowledge.

Very good final a result

In the folder tomtom is a file with the name
TT7 Navigator.mscr
You can open this file with Notepad

You see then the next lines

Delete ("\Storage Card\TomTom\GPS.ini")
sleep 100

Run("\Storage Card\TomTom\GPSSwitchToNMEA.exe")
sleep 4000

If you place # for the lines
Then TomTom start quicker
And I thing these line dont need to be used anymore because you have a Gps fix now.
# means they are not used.

#Delete ("\Storage Card\TomTom\GPS.ini")
#sleep 100

#Run("\Storage Card\TomTom\GPSSwitchToNMEA.exe")
#sleep 4000

Then you can closed the file.

Just for information, the file in post 20 is not recognised by the sat nav (just shows a red question mark)
Thanks again.

Hello,
Google translation,
In the program there is the modification for the search of the GPS,
The yellow and black wheel, still works.
Friendly.

This method is not suitable for Chicago with ROM: R08 + 1128

Turn your Chicago 6000 to 9000, into TomTom PNA with this new method of installation
(Here Rom: T10 + 0417, Rom: R06 + 1025 Works also .... Attention on some R06, it does not work!).

It takes a 2GB SD card to format in FAT. (If this is the 2GB of Route66 made a backup)

You copy the folders: backup, Route66 provided, to your SD card (which already contains TT7).

Perform a hard reset (press and hold the power button for 20 seconds, release, and press again until the

Top of the screen, release the button, a croie appears, click on it, follow its displacement, if well done, a count appears, you click

On the screen) and you get to the screen with the choice: AB or MP3, you click AB, to end up with TomTom.
When TT is open, it tells you no map or similar, stop the GPS, remove the SD card,

Put in the card reader of your computer. / PC.

You must also see a file "device.nng" and (ttnavigator.bif it will be used to activate your card: here test with

Europe_920.5267 ... same as the other TT 7.910 compatible cards),

Copy the Europe map to the SD card next to Route66, backup, device.nng, ttnavigator.bif

Attention the file bif that I join is a demo, the GPS will produce the right file bif, with the number of the GPS.

Open FastActivate, it already contains the Meta file that corresponds to the Europe 920.5267 map, once activated,

GPS, turn on, and do reset (hole below left with paper clip or stylus). Click on AB, and you have a TomTom.

Thank you for post 25, unfortunately my unit is the R08 + 1128, but being able to identify it, which I didn't know, is helpful.

I have changed the file in post 20. If you are interested you can try it.

I have installed the new files from post 20, all fine apart from no gps fix, used all baud rates, for 30 minutes: up to 4800 both clock and disc work, and show up to 10 sats, but in grey, (No blue) increasing the baud after that stops the clock working,
Frustratingly, I returned to the files used where I did get a fix yesterday, no fix same as just mentioned. Reverted back to route 66 card and got a fix in about a minute.
Re post 20, I can't see the script line under the inserted satellite screen, is it Important?
I really do appreciate the support I've had, I hate to leave things unfinished, but this is getting close.

Looks like a result.
Got frustrated with it so left it alone for a few days.
Started with fresh downloads and sd card, installed as Holyhead suggests (small error in Post 22: MSCR file is in R66 folder)
Found certain (compatible) maps were a problem but 980 7971 seems ok.
Baud rate 4800 works, any higher the disc and time stop.
However no signal strength shows and the satellite bars, and map screen remain grey 'searching for GPS'. UNTIL a destination is put in. This seems to kick start the system gets a lock in a minute or so, after that everything is fine.
Full credit to Holyhead for sorting this.
