Route66 Chicago

Postby aud598p » Sun Feb 19, 2017 2:57 pm

Hello all,
Just spent a fair bit of time trying to put tomtom navigator on to a Route 66 Chicago satnav. It is ce5. Attempted file renaming and / or including a shell, without success. Before I waste any more hours has anyone had success in doing this.
I have noted that some old information that may have helped is no longer available
.Any help appreciated.

Thank you for the help, it looks like someone has spent some time here.
Unfortunately I've still got the same problem. I followed the instructions, put the sd card in, and can't get past the start up screen. I have loaded maps and tried again, with the same result. Fast activator shows ' File TTGO.BIF or TTNAVIGATOR.BIF not found'.The unit works OK with its original maps.
Suggestions wellcome.

Have you got the announcement No Map Found. If you got that somewhere on you device you must have a file TTNAVIGATOR.BIF

No, on starting, and after reset, the start up screen is displayed ie route66 logo, and at the right side 2 icons, AB and mp3 at the left. that's all. If the sd card is not in when started a missing sd card Icon shows.
(A few years ago I successfully put tomtom onto a rac unit, which had route 66 maps, this is a different kettle of fish )

Thanks for that, I will have a look later today.
If I can work out how to include a photo, I will put one of the Route 66 Chicago start up screen on, I believe this is different to the Route 66 mini.

Getting there, thank you. your mod's to the file have allowed me to open TTN. At first I had frozen screens, 'not enough memory" so I changed maps to older set,UK+I, and got a result.
However It is not finding satellites, I have tried different settings with no success, It is the first time I have come across
'SC2440 USB Cable: TMC-COM and GPS-COM' on a unit. Any thoughts?
I also need to put English voices on, but I think even I can manage that.
Again, many thanks for your input.

I have done as you suggest,
Can't be far away from a solution now.
When setting GPS I don't get an option of 'Port's' (no port 2 showing). I have set to 'Gps Com & baud 34800', and given it 1/2 hour looking at a clear sky _ no satellites found.
I know this will probably sound silly, but could your work be used to run Nav 7.45?
Thanks for your patience, it must be wearing a bit thin by now.

I have changed the TT7 navigator.mscr in post 13. Take that one.
That you don,t have a port is oke.

If you stil don,t got a gps fix in 20 minits

Lower the baud rate
In the GPS screen in the right upper corner is a small circle. This circle must turn and also the time on the left side from the circle must turn (so both circle and time must run).
Then in open air and there must be a GPS fix within 20 minutes.
