Running TomTom 7.910 on a generic Win CE 6 PNA - Memory Prob

Try this for out of memory problems.
Put Tom tom on an SD card then fill the card up with anything and leave only 2MB of space left on the card, it's critical, not 3 and not 1.
Now see if it runs.

Hi Guys, i just tried this version from Dodobird on Chinese PNA WinCE6 128mb and this is by far the best result that i have got. It only lasts about 20 seconds after it picks up GPS signal and then comes the error message "Not enough memory" How much memory does this baby need? Battled for weeks with my other PNA WinCE4.2 64mb and never even got as far as this one on CE6. With 4.2 it used to come up with the error message before it even finnished loading. Funny thing is that if i go into a building where there is no signal, i can play around with the settings and preferences as long as i like but as soon as it locates my position, 20 seconds later it shuts down. I ask again, How Much Memory does this need??

Just wanted to add some info here, I discovered that my PNA has 128mb of NAND Flash ROM and 64mb of RAM. Tried moving the software to Nandflash but still crashes after about 20 seconds. Once lasted for 45 seconds. When i go into the version, i see that there is 27mb available and i also have a TomTom One XL 30 and that works fine with only 5mb available. Very strange!

Just wandering if anybody is also confused about the 128mb. I must be honest, i also thought that it was RAM but it turned out to NandFlash ROM and the ram is only 64MB

Why don't you try what I suggested in post 32?
You might be pleasantly surprised.

Regarding post #32 i tried filling up my sd card leaving only 2mb available and it still crashed after about 20 seconds after receiving the signal. You will not believe what happened next!!!! I took out the sd card and ran it from my NandFash and it never crashed. I have just done a half hour simulation to an address 30km away and even while connected to satellites, still no crash.
Will let you know if it stays stable.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I've no idea.
It's just that when I was struggling with this problem two years ago with v 7.450 PNA and with UK map 720.1802, I kept getting the error 'not enough memory' and I read loads and loads on forums and still no good until I came across this 2MB thing.
Anyway I thought cobblers, but I tried it and it worked, not first time, it's a bit trial and error. But it is the only way i can get Tomtom to work.
I have just tried replacing the 7.450 exe and data.chk with the 7.91 versions and it runs but I get the 'not enough memory' error and thus far adjusting the free space around the 2MB mark has not worked. So it looks like I will have to settle for v 7.450.
Incidentally I have never been able to avtivate any other maps than v720.1802, so I am stuck back in the year 2008.
Still one day I may crack it.
Incidentally, once it runs, leave a route on it when you exit every time and it stays stable on start up next time.

I am also using 7.450 but with 850.xxx maps. I wonder why yours will not work with the same version? When i first got it up and running, i had coppied a .cfg file from my TomTom One XL. I now have 8 different softwares running on my device. iGO8, iGO Primo, NDrive 10, Polnav6, Navigon, Sygic8.1.15, Garmin and now TomTom 7.450

I don't know. I have gone through the activation procedures to produce the DCT files for the maps correctly, but when I put them on my PNA they come up with 'wrong activation code'. I can only use the first map I ever got to work and I can't remember if it was a cracked map that didn't need activating, I seem to remember it was.
Anyway, if I had to list what I have got running on two devices it would be an essay. There is virtually no sat nav system I haven't got working, not by cracking I hasten to add, but by sheer perseverance.
I have also got systems working that have no maps for the UK, just to complete my collection.
Some people collect butterflies, I collect sat nav programs.

So to recap, I don't know why I have had problems activating tomtom maps, but I have.
It won't stop me experimenting until I do though.

My devices are :-
a chinese CE 6.0 480x272 400MHz 64MB SDRAM
a chinese CE 6.0 800x480 600MHz 128MB SDRAM

Just to note that 7.450 needs to use the V7 keygen whereas 7.91X needs the V8 keygen

Very true, but when such as Albert's keygen is used it does that itself.
None of which helped me crack a map.

I used the "Easy Use Tools" and it worked fine.

By the way, the "Out Of Memory" problem started again this morning. Had it running through the night without crashing, made sure that i had a route going before shutting down. On reboot it loads the route and then about 20 seconds later, crashes. I think that it is just the challenge that i am after, the satisfaction of getting it up and running, i am sure you understand what i mean. I already own a One XL 30 so i don't really need this, just the challenge! and to get as many different systems running on 1 device.

I have now managed to activate map 855.2931 for the UK by putting the activator in the map folder and running it.
Trouble is I now have the 'not enough memory' problem.
Now I have two devices one is 64 MB SDRAM and runs at 400MHZ, the other is 128 MB SDRAM and runs at 600MHz.
But the program runs longer on the less able device before it exits.I have enough time to check what the map is and it clearly says v855.2931
The faster one is getting to the answer quicker (the answer being 'not enough memory)', because it's quicker, and exits almost after the splash-screen. I just see a glimpse of the blue screen at the start.
They are PNAs and It is not obvious how to mess about with memory splits unlike a PDA.
Baffling really.

I am pretty sure though that this has got nothing to do with the ability of my devices to run tomtom and them having enough memory to do so.

It has something to do with the structure of the tomtom program and how devices access it.
I shall continue to experiment.

Pleased to see that you have managed to activate the map. If you need more time to check anything, just stay away from the satellites signal and you will be ok. The problem starts 20 seconds after it gets signal. It is amazing that i had it running for about 17 hours without any problems and i was using it to simulate and actual driving around with a couple of destinations. And i shut down and restarted a couple of times just to see.
