Schizophrenic Tomtom in Cyprus

Again: without further feedback from other users there is the fact that it works just fine with current NC's for two mods.
Since you confirmed it working on Android it only leaves your device or your setup.
If there would be a real problem the net would e flooded with it by now - or at least the official TT forums.
Did you, by now, try to contact TT about it?

DeviceS actually. My windows 6.5 phone and my daughter's GO510 both with different Navcores.

I'm actually not that worried about a fix: in the unlikely event that I return to Cyprus, I'll be ready for the problem.

I'm not that sure that the net would be flooded with reports; it's not immediately obvious that there are Tomtom maps for Cyprus and the Navcores I have used are pretty ancient.

I haven't contacted Tomtom. I envisage a letter/post along the line of ...

Hi Tom

I have a navcore and map downloaded from Navitotal.......... can you help?

Tomtom are not that helpful at the best of times. I can't see them being anything other than obstructive (or worse) in these circumstances.

In this instance I'll just leave it but warn other members that if they use Europe or Eastern Europe maps 905.4757 in Cyprus they MAY get incorrect instructions and that if they use Navcore 7.903 or 7.917, they almost certainly will.

It seems that the problem is with either the rather old navcore (but current) on my smartphone and GO510 or the maps or the interface between them.

Why not on the 510??

The preferred* navcore for the GO510 is 7.903.
This navcore (I think I'm correct in saying) can address only a 2GB SD card (not an SD HC card), and is quite limited wrt compatible maps, which is why I tried the Europe East 905.4757 on this device. Wheras I had originally found the problem with Europe 905.4757, this is too large to fit on a 2GB card.

My "virtual drives" in Cyprus for both maps were identical on my smartphone and the "virtual drive" on my daughter's GO150 with the Europe East map only, exactly the same: this is what was filmed for the Youtube clip.

My daughter has now gone home (about 230 miles away) and I don't have access to her Tomtom to try any other Navcores.
What navcore would you now recommend? - I tried 9.051.503855.2 on her GO510 about three years ago (I think this was then recommended), but found it to be unstable - loosing sound & tending to switch itself off, so reverted to the official version.

*ie Tomtom home latest update

With today's ability to mod navcores for almost any unit, the preferred* navcore is irrelevant.

After over a year's absence I'm returning to this thread as I'm about to visit Cyprus again.

With the latest Europe map 935.5745, I get exactly the same behaviour, as reported previously, if I take a "virtual drive" from Lemesos (Limasol) to Pafos (Paphos).
Anyone else like to try out this drive with their Navcore & map combination and report back for the record?

Having spent a fortnight or so in Cyprus Oct/Nov of last year, I was having to navigate around Cyprus for quite a large group of people. I also wasn't expecting to have to navigate, so all I had available to me was my Android phone with a current Europe map on it.

Absolutely no problems with which side of road to drive on.

So having used it for real, not a simulation, all I can say is that it works as it should.

Regards

Thanks for your response Sir Dammus.
If you look at my post #15, I report sensible results with Android. It's using regulator Tomtom PNA or Navigator on a Windows phone where I've experienced a problem.
