i have a really old tomtom XL, i think the navcore is version 8010 see the ttgo.bif below
it has never been updated and has started running really slow, so i have conected it to tomtom home and updated it
also i downloaded uk map 930_5563 which does not work, it says no map.
I have looked at the map compatability list and it seems that it is not compatible,
so the question is do i update the navcore so the map will work? or do I try and get a map that will work,

I have deleted the old map by mistake andthis is my mums satnav btw

Since you have already gone this far, stick with the 8010 navcore for now, as a learning experience.
Unzip & copy the 5601 map into the XL.
Patch both the 5601 map & 8010 navcore with FastActivate. Done!!

the link was broken to the maual map so i had to download the installer version

which i installed but now i get the error message "you can not use this map on this device"

is it somthing to do with the meta data?

ive put a uk 830.2307 map on, patched it and it seems to be working now

can i do the driver update via tomtom home or will it mess it up?

Unless you upped the navcore, you can't use a 5563 map, as you correctly stated in post 1.

OK, for clarification, are you running navcore 8010 & UK 930.5601 or UK 830.2307??
