In the screen you mention (the 'Version info' screen), is there a Copyright button?

Boys & Girls take a look at the installed bootloader. It is the b/l for NC 8.010. 9.205 b/l is 5.5250. It is attached. Download, unzip & copy this system file into your XL, overwriting the current file.

Guys, please, no comments about the dangers of doing this.

I don't think the bootloader has anything to do with this. But you can try it of course.

And in this 'Copyright' screen, is there the 'Current Configuration' line? (See attachment) If so, click this and please report what is written there.

My copyright is the same as yours. Going down this rabbit trail is a total waste of time. What you currently have in the setconfig file will neither help nor hinder the free RAM.

So it isn't an SE NC (only SE versions have this 'Current Configuration' line). And therefore, the setconfig.txt doesn't have any influence at all! I suggest using an SE NC. Then, you can use the setconfig.txt file to tune your TT (and gain 6 -12 MB free RAM).

I would try SE NC 8.544 or SE NC 8.562. I've seen many people using this (me included) and having ~6-12 MB free RAM. Very stable and running smoothly too. Try the setconfig.txt as I said in post #24 (remove the ttsoff line if you want computer voices).

Au contraire, mon frede. He does have a SE version. I also have the same SE version. No "Current Configuration" in Copyright & setconfig works flawlessly.

Ok. But then that's the first SE NC I see without this function. What's the source of this NC? I thought all SE's are prepared to work with switchfiles and are made by TTuser. So where is this NC comming from?

You're right. I continued this question here: http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2831-TomTom-Automatic-Navcore-Installation&p=22592#post22592 .

@ combat goofwing: did you try the suggestion I gave in post #39?
