Some assistance please!

Wed Oct 09, 2013 12:21 am

Hi all,

Downloaded one of the darth vader voices on the forum here and fastactivated the voice without realizing my previous tomtom map would get overwritten... So now my TomTom doesn't even work.

I am planning on doing the update anyway and was wondering if I could get some assistance.

my device is a XL 540 and my version was 9.510(something of the sort). my device comes with Advanced Lane Guidance and IQ routes.

I believe the 915.5111 should work but would like some assistance in the matter.

Patching a Navocre or activating a voice/map does not cause these problems.
Give us the whole story or simply do a clean install of Navcore and map.

That was the story, unless I did something wrong lol.

Downloaded the fastactivator from the link provided on the same thread as the voices

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?1043-Original-Darth-Vader-Voice-Yards-and-Meters

put the darth vader voice into my Tom Tom directory. In this case; G:\ TomTomXL540\Voices

Realized it didn't work so I went back to the voices. Said to download fastactivator

Downloaded fast activator and ran it.

After that, tried to operate my XL via TOMTOM HOME and upon starting the system through there, I recieved the message: "Problem with map: You cannot use this map on this device. USA_CANADA_AND_MEXICO_P-348

Did I forget something?

So an update:

I didnt know what the navcore thing was so i decided to patch that too.. now it's working but when I connect to TOMTOM home it doesn't work... Is this supposed to happen?

And what map should I be using? I tried to download 915.5111 but it keeps saying it's offline..

1. Run FastActivate Latest Update option 4 to patch TT Home.

2. I just checked USA_Canada_915_5111 with Automatic Installer & Patcher & found all 7 parts to be good.

Hi all,

so I am completely lost on what to do. Wondering if anyone can help me out here..

ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom XXL IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XXL IQ Routes
DeviceSerialNumber=RXxxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=55279
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
ApplicationVersion=1234792.2
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0

Map(s):
F:\USA_Canada_915_5111\

Storage:

Like you see, I tried using USA_CANADA_915_5111 but when I boot up my tom tom it says this map cannot be used.

Any help would be appreciated

This is the classic message, when the map is not patched. Look in the 5111 map folder. NO .meta.dct file = map NOT patched. If so, put the FastActivate Latest Update .exe file & a copy of your ttgo.bif file in the 5111 map folder. Run option 2 to patch the map.

Okay, just to confirm.. Sorry :|

I have the 915.5111 with auto updater/patcher installed (but even then it wasn't working)

Install the map using the auto-installer/patcher

after that, I use the fastactivate with the latest update..

Then from my TomTom root folder, i copy the file called 'ttgo.bif' and move it to the 5111 maps folder, which would be known as USA_CANADA_MEXICO ?

or the folder called maps?

And then after all is said and done,

use option 2 "patch maps, voices, etc"

Thanks for your help!

It really makes things much easier for everyone if you get familiar with the things.
Did you read any of the tutorials?
Simply following the instructions provided in the map thread and the posting for FastActivate will work fine.
You are overcomplicating things because you have no clue what you are doing.

I probably am overcomplicating it, but that is not my intention.

I've done everything that the tutorials say. I've even backed it up.

Starting on a fresh TomTom (after hard reset)

I install 915.5111 auto-installer and patcher.

Patch navcore and maps just in case. Even added the USA and Canada metacode ending in .826

BC 79 04 7F 5E 73 D2 81 3A 10 72 0B 2E 97 C2 C4 USA_Canada-826.meta ; USA_Canada 915_5111

Still says unable to use map...

Am I using the wrong 915_5111 map or something? I downloaded the USA_CANADA map but my original map was USA_CANADA_MEXICO but I don't know if that makes any difference.

You have spent 2 posts explaining in detail everything that you have done, most of which was totally unnecessary, EXCEPT confirming that the map is patched by seeing a .meta.dct file in the 5111 map folder.

Thu Oct 10, 2013 4:16 am

Oops sorry, I knew I was forgetting something.

On top of everything listed previously, the .meta.dct file is there also.

USA_Canada-826.meta
USA_Canada-826.meta.dct

Thu Oct 10, 2013 5:49 am

You can simpy confirm the map activation if there is a .dct file created inside the map folder - same name as the .pna.
If you tried before and a wrong code was used you should delete the .dct file and activate again using the right meta code.
The tool only checks if the code matches the map but not if the code is correct.
If you have a correct .DCT file the only possible problem would a the Navcore not bein patched.

The .dct and .pna files are not the same. the .dct has 826 at the end and .pna does not..

Should I delete the dct and repatch?

This is the way that they should be.
