Speed cam warning, setting

Speed cam warning, setting

Postby naviboy » Mon Jun 04, 2012 7:55 pm

I've read somewhere you can set the distance before the safety cameras before you are warned, by going into General Settings, Manage POI, touching safety camera poi. ??

I've looked in my Manage POI and see no Safety camera poi to set the distance my device warns before the safety/speed cam. The reason I want to do this is because certain Mobile speed cams I know of, use bridges to checks speeds which can see you approx a mile before you approach and the default warnings are in certain cases are far too late.

How can I set my device to warn me earlier.

thanks

Been there, I see all the various types of camera's. But whichever I check I can only change the warning sound, not the warning distance before the camera.

I've since found 2 options from a search,

1) Change again to 9.045, which another user had to overcome the same problem.

2) Download a PGPSW file ref: - http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?7806-PGPSW-26-10-11-(Asia-Africa-Aus-NZ-Canada-Europe-USA) But the link is dead.

PGPSW files don't show in the safety cam menu as they are normal POI's.

Are you saying that if you go to my home location, it shows as being a speedcam, or are you saying if you go into speedcams your home location shows up?

When I move away from my Home Location, the Camera alarm goes off and symbol shown on screen or when I return back to Home.

Cool warning to let you know you are home but I never heard of that happening before.

If you added the speedcam at your home address to the PGPSW speedcam files just go to Settings -> Manage POI's -> Delete POI and remove it.

Reading the TT discussion site about "SPEED CAMERA WARNING - TIME/DISTANCE BEFORE ALARM", officially this function has been removed/turned off from later updates from TomTom.

Atfer asking TT direct about this, the reply is,

Thank you for taking the time to contact TomTom Customer Support. My name is Sophia and we are always happy to help.

I understand that after updating latest application on device, you are not able to set safety camera warning sound at a particular distance.

I would like to inform you that the latest application does not have the feature now. We would like to inform you that as per the latest application feature, you will receive warning sound on your device before 15 seconds.

The warning sound distance cannot be changed.

We also understand as how important is for you to access the feature on your device.

We would like to inform you that we have taken your case as feedback and is been forwarded to our product management department.

May be in future application update the feature would be added back in the application software.

Thank you for your valuable time and for giving me an opportunity to assist you.

With Kind Regards

Sophia
The TomTom Customer Care Team

So fixed at 15 seconds.
Not soon enough for mobile sites for me "

So has it been turned off or are Navitotal versions modified to continue with the settings of the distance setting before a Safety Camera. ??
