How did you handle the "Switchfiles.zip"?

BTW, 9.205, your map & device are compatible.

Not aware anything was required to be done with file. It was installed via the Navcore installation.

I tried re-installing 9.205 again and everything was sucessfull including "Main Menu, TomTom Services, Speed Cameras, Report speed cameras". Everything was OK.

But since adding voices and car symbols via TT Home and adding a random address to "Add Favourite" as although the MapSettings.cfg was still in my map. Favourites didnot show any only the random address added, now everything has gone back to square one not working. Removed mapsettings.cfg from map, still no joy.

Starting the device, I select the language "UK", voice, time and etc, then it shows the 2 maps I have for selection of which I wish to use. It hangs for a few seconds, then says "Problem with Map, You cannot use this map on this device: Western_Europe-512" this also applies with Canada_Alaska. Then it will restart/loop and having to re-input all the data again it asks: language, time, voice and etc back to the maps for selection with same message and will re-loop.

Thanks
Tried running ClearFlash - no change, Hard reset at underside of device - no change

1. There is a readmenot.txt in the switchfiles.zip, that explains it all.
2. Great!!
3. Never have more than 2 voices on your unit. WHY did you add a random address? Mapsettings.cfg is created by the unit as you personalize your unit. If you get a new map, you copy the Mapsettings.cfg file from the old to the new.
4. This means that either the navcore or map/maps are not patched.

OK,

None of this makes any sense.

1) I reformatted the SD card, Re-installed the Maps, ttgo.bif, system5.5106, placed 2 voices in a root folder 'voices' as 9.205 has no voice folder and ran Fastactivate to create the dct files in both maps.

2) Operated TT Home, Operate my One, selected UK, selected various parameters (miles, time format and time corrected), selected voice, Western_Europe map. Hey Presto it works and can select all the Main menu's and others.

3) Installed the latest speedcams into the maps, latest post codes, Fastactivate. Operated TT Home, Operate my One. It still works

4) Installed my 'Favourites' map.cfg file into Western_Europe map to overwrite existing file. Operated TT Home, Operate my One, can see my Favourites and select a previous destination favourite. It still works

5) The only thing, TT One does not know where it is in Europe only the default location when started as it cannot locate any satellites.

6) I disconnected the TT One from the PC and TT Home. The TT restarts asking all again the various settings during setup as 2), then when the Western_Europe map is selected. It Hangs and restarts back to square one asking to select all the various parameters again.

7) Re-connected to PC and setup again as 2), It hangs for a few seconds again after selecting map, then says "Problem with Map, You cannot use this map on this device: Western_Europe-512" this also applies with Canada_Alaska.

8) If either is not patched to cause this problem, why should it operate before disconnecting from PC and then not operate when reconnected to the PC.

9) Readmenot, I don't understand what I'm to do.

Confused.

thanks again

1. We don't format anything except in the most sever cases. system5.5106 is the bootloader. It will not install itself until you delete 5.5106 from the name leaving it named "system".
2. OK
3. You put the post code folder named Zip in the root?
4. OK.
5. TomTom QuickGPSfix Update Tool
6. Bummer
7. Confirm the maps are patched by seeing a meta.dct file in each map folder.
8. "Operate my device is only an emulation/simulation & can't be used to troubleshoot problems.

I have deleted all again except my Western_Europe map, system, ttgo.bif, fastactivate.

The version of 9.205 is the Auto-install 'SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices'.

I have started to download another 2 part version.
Already downloaded "X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1". But for 2 days been trying to download the file below, but the site constantly telling me I have already have a file downloading. When I don't !!!! Can anyone help with this please.

[Please Register or Login to download file]

I have re-installed my 2 part 8.410 back onto the TT. Used the same fastactivate, map, system file, ttgo.bif etc and it operates fine. The only problem I have is what I started out with - No TomTom Services in the main menu. So I guess there is a problem with my version of 9.205 for it not to operate correctly.

Each time I fastactivate either 8.410 or 9.205 the dct files are shown in the maps etc

Can anyone help with above download file.

thanks

1. No need to keep the "system" file.
2. OK.
3. Do not mix this version with the point 2 version.
4. Based on your info, FastActivate was not needed in this step. Nor was the "system" file or the ttgo.bif file.
5. The problem is not your 9.205 version.
6. The 8.410 & 9.205 versions are pre-patched & don't need re-patching. Like wise for the map.

OK thanks,

1) When 8.410 was re-installed with just Western_Europe map clean from the rar files, TT would not run the Map without using Fastactivate. Also in post #12 you say I must have ttgo.bif on my SD. ?

2) I would remove the Auto-9.205 Navcore, and use the 9.205 2 part basic and tt version downloaded as I do with 8.410. That is why I have asked for help with post #21 with the [Please Register or Login to download file] download

3) Without system file I could not use my 4G SD card when installing 8.410 some 2 years ago.

Why will the 2 part 8.410 operate clean from the installation with no problems and not the Auto 9.205 no matter how many times it is re-installed etc.

1. FastActivate would be required, only if you installed a NEW copy of the WE map. For this the ttgo.bif file should be on the card.
2.
3. The first time a unit with a new bootloader (system file) is booted, the the system file flashes the OS memory. After that it is no longer needed.

OK,

I have got another 4g SD, put on WesternEurope map.

I have 2 versions of 9.205 'Auto Install' and the 2 part 'basic and ttsystem'. Have installed both one at a time and neither will operate with the same message saying I can't use the map and yet the map has a dct file. Can't be a problem with the map as its fine with 8.410

So I have given up trying to install this navcore 9.205, is there another 9.**** series navcore I could use with my device and maps.

Thanks for all your help with this issue

Not quite yet.
Follow these instructions EXACTLY. Don't do anything more & don't do anything less.
Put your unit in complete working condition with 8.410.
Download this copy of 9.205. [Please Register or Login to download file] . Unzip it & copy the entire contents to your device, overwriting any common files. Disconnect & reboot.

OK,

Downloaded file and expanded, copied contents to my working device with 8.410 and overwritten any files it wishes.

Disconnected device, seen reboot screen and then TomTom screen, there it hangs till using a pin to the underside to reset. Again reboot is seen and then it hangs again on the TomTom (black&white) screen.

What version was the bootloader ?

1. Rats!! Remove everything except the map folder. Do a clean install of 9.205 in post 26. Disconnect & reboot.
2. Bootloader = 5.5250 & is not an issue.

OK,

Deleted all except Map and re-installed 9.205

Still same as #27, Disconnected device, seen reboot screen and then TomTom screen, there it hangs till using a pin to the underside to reset. Again reboot is seen and then it hangs again on the TomTom (black&white) screen. Cannot turn device off, only by a reset to underside.

Double RATS!!! OK re-load your 8410, while I do some more testing.
