Sat Jun 30, 2012 12:37 pm

I have a tomtom one V1, old I know but always reliable up til now.
When the tomtom starts the GPS lock is in the wrong street, it was ok yesterday! Any ideas how to fix?

Thanks

Yes I have the same problem.
Started today on my GO520 which now gives my current location as 200 yds to the west of my true position. My bet is it's a hardware fault as I have re-installed both map and navcore with no change.

Ok, two devices with the same unusual problem ?
Please more details!!
Did it happen without any changes before or after any update (map, NC, quickfix...)?
Do you have a backup at hand that was created before that problem happened? If so, does the device work normal with it or still shows the wrong position?
How many satellites are shown on the GPS info screen?

Make that 3 devices.
Mine is a Go 930
Upgraded the Navcore to 9.450memoryboost - nothing else
Reverted back to 9.430, and to the full backup I made of 9.401 with no luck in change.
Just tried the TomTom Clear Flash tool - and now it shows me at home, so maybe give that a shot?
Going to try re-upgrading the navcore again

I hope will be solved shortly.

Hi.

I have EXACTLY the same problem with my GO920 (navcore 9.430).
It was working until I updated it yesterday (the 30th) from TomTom with QuickGPSFix and MapShare files. Nothing else was touched.

This is what I have noticed:
The coordinates that the GPS shows are wrong and thus the actual location shown on the map is wrong. The coordinates move around a set area (a number of yds away) when the device is started.
I get 6-8 satellites. And all are showing good signal strength.
When driving, the coordinates remain wrong. They never show the correct location. This created a bit of a problem when I tried to go somewhere yesterday...
When operating the device through TomTom Home, the correct location is shown.

This is what I have tried (nothing worked):
Replacing the map.
Removing/reverting QuickGPSFix.

I'm not sure whether I have a full backup of my device, but I'll check.
Did it just 'malfunction' or could TomTom somehow have deliberately sabotaged it?
What else can I do?

And that makes 4 devices with the same problem that started on the same day? A coincidence?

Does anyone have an older QuickGPS Fix version?
If so please share it and don't update today...

All the versions that you download are actually saved in the TomTom folder under your user profile.
I tried reverting to an older version. It didn't help.

Also.. I just tried using the Clear Flash Tool. That also did not work.

We are up to 5 devices now. Seems like these devices are not just malfunctioning...

You are all right Mythic. It is not the Quick gps fix.
Anyway it is funny to drive with it when is is pointing me 300m away to the east direction from my actual position. Someone is kidding us.

So far I have tried the following with no success.
1. Reverted back to older navcore .
2. Reverted back to older map
3. tried several hard re-boots
4. Tried old back-up (6 months old)
5. Tried clear flash tool
6. Even tried shouting at it.

Only change made was to add a new favourite for my latest route. Problem then popped up!
Very strange. I therefore believe it is likely to be a hardware problem (but still live in hope that it's not).

OK I think I have found the answer.
I have got mine working again by doing the following.
1. Go to change preferences
2. Use right arrow to select Set Clock
3. Press next
4. Press Sync (I did the Sync about ten times)
5. Return to main screen and if your like me all is fine.

Been checking now for about an hour and still working with correct location.

I asked one of my best friends, Google, and he said that there was an "update" for the US GPS satellites this week.
But that was on monday or tuesday so much more device would have been affected if that would have made any difference.
However if you have no update quick fix data and your device is not set "sync with the sat" for the time you might end up with a wrong/misleading GPS position.
One sign would be that your local on the GPS differs from the actual time - than the above will work fine, I had no such problems on my device so I can' replicate it here.
Wonder why there are ony so few problems reported - and I monitor a few forums...
Also if you encounter this problem : update the quick fix data first, than check how many sats are available. Wait until you have at least 5 active connections on the info screen.
If still out of position check your time and follow the instrucitons in the above posting.
