STILL cannot use map on this device

Postby n2esp » Wed Aug 03, 2011 8:32 am

Hello all

I have a GO 730 which I have recently upgraded to the latest Navcore (SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar (Widescreen ONLY)). I am trying to use the Western_and_Central_Europe_870.3406 map on it. This is installed on a SD card as it is too large to fit on the device (which maybe my problem).

I have used Fast Activate to patch everything from the device but it will only see the device and the map which is of course on another directory.

Although my TT device works fine with the new navcore, I get "Problem with map - You cannot use this map on this device", even though [Please Register or Login to download file] proves otherwise.

Can anyone help?

If you use a SD for the map you'll need a copy of your ttgo.bif file on it before running the activator, otherwise your map won't be activated.
To check look for a .meta.dct file in your map folder, the name is the same as the map.

Both the ttgo.bif file and meta tag are on the SD card.

I have now started afresh: formatted the SD card, installed the Navcore on to the card then the map. Turned on TT. device works but same issue with the map

If you used the SE, then the Navcore is already patched, and you don't patch the Navcore again, that only leaves the map.
Make sure to use the latest version of FastActivate or AutoActivate.
Formatting a SD is not recommended.

It was my own 4GB SD card that I formatted.

Re-tried and everything appears to work now.

A side question - is it possible to gain TomTom traffic updates via Bluetooth?

Nope, you'll need a subscription for that.

Yes it is, but you can still use the 9.205 navcore on a 64Mb device. It has been tweaked to run on a 32Mb device, but it will run just as well (or even better) on 64Mb devices.

It makes no difference who's SD card it is, we don't recommend formatting a card, except in the most extreme situations.

Yes, why do you ask?

So, just to try and clear up a small point, if the 730 is a 64mb RAM device, isn't it better to use a 64mb navcore?

9.205 is from a 32MB device and has not been tweaked to run on a 32MB device.

NO!! Most any navcore will run on a 64MB device & do so equally well. Not all navcores will run on 32MB devices without modification.
BTW, I have 9.205 on a X20 unit.
