There wasn't a "system" file on my device to overwrite. Deleted all files, copied it to device as "ttsystem" and rebooted while plugged to computer. Home immediately installed latest official app so I'm on my way. Thanks.

As said many time: unpack to the root of your device and start the TT.

When all I did was unpack to device, the gps wouldn't boot even part way. Just a TT screen that did nothing and HOME didn't see the device. When I renamed it ttsystem with everything else deleted from the device it was recognized by HOME and it immediately wanted to update it. Maybe something just odd about this model.

Anyway, thanks again for the help. It's greatly appreciated.

System & ttsystem are 2 entirely different files. System is the bootloader file & ttsystem is the "guts" file of the navcore. Renaming system to ttsystem did nothing but disguise the system file. You would have gotten the same results from TT Home, if you had connected
your unit to your puter, without any files on it.

Weird that I had no system file then.

Not really. The system [bootloader] file is only used once, to change the bootloader, the first time the unit is booted after the new system file is copied in. It is then dormant from that point on. It can be deleted or left in the unit.
