To rule out it being a software problem first use the tomtom clear flash tool (get it in my sig) then if still no joy i reccomend formatting the drive and re-installing the Truck software and map if it still does not work then it sounds like it is a hardware issue (problem with the cable)

The tomtom clear flash tool does not affect any of your files it just empties the devices flash memory dump wich sometimes causes numerous problems , you will not loose anything you can leave the sd card in it is ok.

I have also found that this happens occasionally, usually if I unplug the cable with the unit switched on. A paperclip in the reset hole works well and then make sure you close down the unit before you unplug the TMC cable.

I agree with theripper, this happened to mine while on holiday last week. My TMC bar was working fine, then when I used my G0730 the next day the TMC wasn't recognised and the bar wouldn't load. A simple push on the 'reset' button on the underside of the TT should do the trick. Actually to add, when it does fail to recognise the TMC in this way you'll probably also find you can't get your TT to sync with your computer and won't open TTHome automatically etc. But again the reset button should cure this .... the only thing you should have to re-enter is the time and date again
