1. Confirm that you are aware that 8.396 is a TRUCK navcore.
2. Yes, W&CE 2GB 860.3126 will run with your NC, but it is a NO features map. You want the full featured Western and Central 860.3101 [2518.8MB].

Make a backup, using windows explorer.

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/9.205.rider3.CAB-navcore-RIDER.cab

Unzip & copy the .cab into you unit overwriting any common files.

X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1

Unzip the ttsystem download & copy only the ttsystem & PNDNavigator files into your unit, overwriting common files.

Reboot. BTW, I am running this setup on a 720.

Did you load the navcore exactly as described in post 4? What map did you use?

Did you transfer the mapsettings.cfg file from the old map to the new?

hi again tendriver, what iv ended up doing is letting tomtom home update to the latest navcore ( 8.351 ) and installed maps and ran activator and it now works fine :) dont know what i was doing wrong with the navcore you suggested, it was like the tom tom didnt have enough memory to run it, very strange :S but at least its working now, am I missing any important features being on navcore 8.351?

I don't know what you did wrong. I change and test N/Cs this way almost daily, with no problem.
You are missing several features. Whether they are important or not is for the user to decide.

Make a backup, using windows explorer.

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/9.205.rider3.CAB-navcore-RIDER.cab

Unzip & copy the .cab into you unit overwriting any common files.

X_ttsystem.9.205.547817.1

Unzip the ttsystem download & copy only the ttsystem & PNDNavigator files into your unit, overwriting common files.

Reboot. BTW, I am running this setup on a 720.

If 9.205 isn't good for you, take it out & load your backup.

the biggest noticable diffrence between v8 and v9 navcore is how they look v9 navcore looks a lot nicer than v 8, ;) but you can use whatever suits you best, and if you follow tendrivvers instructions above all should run fine

merry Christmas
