have a chance to purchase one of these devices fairly cheap, whith the hardware in them is it possible to get more out of the device with a different navcore, already know how to update devices/maps etc..

9.058 is the latest/current/official navcore for that.

What else are you actually wanting?

If it has 9.058 in it, you won't gain anything by changing navcores.
