Let TTHome incrementally update your navcore to the current 8.351 then take an 870.3406 map

All you need to know is in the tutorials

PS just noticed you're using a non-standard 8370 navcore (why and from where as this was an old x40 navcore?)
Remove all loose files (not folders) then TTHome will instal the correct/current 8.351

Reboot.

Copy the MapSettings.cfg in your old map folder & paste it in the new map folder.

1. Rebooting after a map update or changes to some map related files like POI's.
It is a common problem caused by the file "MapSettings.cfg" in your map folder.
To get a correct version of this file without loosing your favorites connect your Tomtom to
TomTom Home and use "Operate my Go" to manually add a favorite - you can choose any address you like.
Exit and restart your Tomtom which now has a rewritten "MapSettings.cfg" file.
If everything works, you can delete the newly added "dummy" favorite.

Thanks for your help today, Mal

I got my Favorites back using this process. The key is to make the favorite and copy over that new "MapSettings.cfg"with the old one from the backup. Then it worked.

NO!! FIRST, copy the MapSettings.cfg in your old map folder & paste it in the new map folder, THEN follow the procedure blow.

I would also like to update the maps on my GO730. All the information is on the forum already I'm sure, but if anyone has a moment to spoon feed me which maps to use (sorry), I'd really rather not brick my device. I've made a backup, here is my current configuration:

DeviceName=TomTom GO 730
DeviceVersionHW=GO 730
BootLoaderVersion=55120
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
ApplicationVersion=9982
CurrentMap=Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB
CurrentMapVersion=800.1762

You not need update navcore if you not want:

1. make backup
2. remove old map folder from device
3. copy new map folder to device
4. copy FastActivate premium to root of device and run it
5. use buttons update meta.txt , maps/voices/speedcams , ttsystem/PNDNavigator
6. done..

Check you device memory size is it bigger that 2gb ?

Thank you. My device memory size is 1.91GB. Could you tell me what the latest Western and Central Europe map version that my navcore supports? Really I only need United Kingdom maps, if memory size is an issue.

In addition to the 2 maps that PiEtU has suggested, you can use UK & ROI 870.3406. For a full featured Western Europe or W & C Europe, you will need a 4GB SDHC card.
