Tom Tom GO 920 needs updating

Postby xXNuviNaviXx » Wed Sep 26, 2012 5:24 pm

Hi a friend of mine asked me to update his Tom Tom 920, I haven't a clue where to start, he wants a map of Europe, can someone please point me in the right direction.
I have made a back up of his Tom Tom (3.73gb) seems a lot to me.
Thanks

1. Please run: TomTom Current Configuration {29.09.2011} Post the results here.
2. All of the GO 9XX units have a 4GB internal memory.

The current navcore for a 920 is 9.430. To update, download: [Please Register or Login to download file] Copy all files to the 920, overwriting any common files & folders.
Download this pre-patched 9.430 ttsystem file. [Please Register or Login to download file] Copy the ttsystem file ONLY to the 920, overwriting the existing ttsystem file.
Navcore is now updated & patched.

Map: Download & unzip:Europe_895_4438
Go here: FastActivate Premium 1.8.9.0 Read the instructions. Download & unzip this tool.
Remove the Western_and_Central_Europe folder from the 920. Copy the new 4438 map folder & FastActivate to the 920. Run FastActive per the instructions to patch the map. Copy the mapsettings.cfg file from the old map folder to the new.
There may be some personal files in the old map folder, that can/should be transferred to the new. Take a screen shot of the old folder contents & post it to determine what can be transferred.

Disconnect & reboot. Done.

Hi I'm getting a wrong password message for the map link.
I've uploaded some screenshots of the root directory, before I did anything. :)

1. Read the Download instructions in the "All New Maps 895.XXXX" thread.

2. I believe I asked for a screenshot of the old map folder. I'm not concerned with the root directory, although I see that there is a North American map folder on it.

The GB Police Stations, GB Pharmacys POIs & the speedcams could be transferred, but they are so old, it would be better to replace them with current ones.

Hi I think I'll give all this a miss, I D/L part 1 (it took over an hour) I then D/L part 2 for it to cancel it's self in the last few seconds. I've clicked on so many adverts I've now got a headache, I went to re-D/L part 2 where it told me I had to wait 16400 seconds. No this ain't for me.
Thanks and goodbye.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with the download. May I suggest/request that you PM popeye, our map guru, before you quit!!!
