I have a tom tom one 4N00.004.2 which comes with a SD card 256mb and also I have a 1GB card, however the sd cards are blank and I cant figure out which maps do I need to download and whether its compatible with that specific map. I've downloaded 960 Europe with fastactive, followed the steps but I always get the message no maps found. I also downloaded Uk & Ireland and same thing, no maps found. Not sure what Im doing wrong now, cant seem to get it to work. Can someone give me a link to download UK or EU maps, doesnt have to be the newest ones as long as I have something on this device. I installed Europe_1GB_West_945_6243 on the 1GB SD card , activated with fastactive, seems to read the card but still doesnt find any maps Help!? - Can someone recommend which maps will work on this device up to 1GB and give me a direct link to download.

Give the next procedure a try.

first check your bootloader
Checking bootloader (the only reliable method)
Enter a device reset 15 sec.
Then turn on the device and hold the start button until you
get info screen. Which bootloader is there.

Update (if your current bootloader version is lower)
This first to version 5.5022 .
!! BE SHURE THAT THE BATTERY IS FOR MORE THEN 50% CHARCHED !!

Put the bootloader on a SD card 2GB or less. Read the txt file wich included in the
bootloader.
If your current boot loader, is version 1.xxxx stop first !! and report it here on the forum.

1) Take empty SD card from at least 4GB SDHC class 4 or higher.
2) Format the SD card Fat32 once slowly. If it's a new card then you can skip this.
3) Use NavCore 9.510 and unpack it (winrar o.i.d) and place the files and folders on the SD card.
Insert SD Card in the device.

4) Reset the device (at least 20 sec) and then run it till the notice "No card found"
5) Use your chosen map. Unpack it and
Copy the new map to your SD card in its own folder.
When you open the map you see the individual files.
Not a map in a map.
6) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your SD Card root.
Run "FastActivate.exe".
Select 2
7) SD card in the device. Reset the device (at least 20 sec)
Done

my current bootloader version was 5.05 i have extracted the files and updated to 5.5
got this message below
Bootloader v5.5022 supports to 16 Gb and fix a problem over 4Gb.
(the 8Gb SDHC-card is now recognized by both, TT-Home and PC,
connecting TT via docking-station, this was before not possible)

To update the bootloader simply copy the file named system to the root
of your internal memory/or SD/or HD of TT then switch off and reboot.

If you want to use a SDHC (> 2GB) on device that hasn't a native recognition
of it (ex. TT ONE) please update the BL before to use the SD > 2GB.

Be sure that the battery of TT is fully charge and DON’T interrupt
the process of rebooting!


THIS OPERATION IS RISKY AND CAN BREAK DOWN YOUR UNIT. ALSO IT'S NOT REVERSIBLE.

At the end of BL upgrade check in TTGO.BIF that bootloader string reflect that
real version of BL. Otherwise edit it.

Please take care that it's impossible to downgrade (come back to previous version).


Also I currently have a 1GB SD card will that do, or should I get 4GB SD HC? - I have extracted the navcore 950, on the 1GB SD card and the interface has changed, I have more options now: language select, Voice select that wasnt there before but still cant see maps :/ Maybe the maps I have are Not the correct file format? I have them in a 960 own folder GB.postal/ ver file format.

Update : downloaded Uk & ireland map got error: You cannot use this map on this device. (1GB SD card)
update 2 : OK Uk & ireland map is working on my device - a bit of thoubleshooting, finally THANK YOU Holyhead !

Stick to 5.5022 if you want to upgrade (only needed for SD cards bigger dan 2GB)

I was thinking of buying a SDHC card 4GB or 8GB as I am currently using 1GB SD card which is quite old. Will 4GB/8GB SDHC card be compatible with my device if I decide to upgrade boot loader? There is not much difference in price between 4GB/8GB sdhc.

After upgraded the bootloader to 5.5022 you can use SDHC cards till 16GB
