Hi,

I'm a complete noob and after some guidance, my mom needs to take my dad the hospital next week and dug out an old sat nav and I have been tasked to make sure it is up to date etc.

Ideally I just want the latest UK maps installed the device info is

Device AK5SC BAHS2
App 7.903 (9183/081205) OS:2344
29MB RAM (free 7.5MB)
GPS v1.21, Boot 5.0500
Map UK v660.1199
There is a 256MB branded SD card which holds all the data

Any help would be much appreciated.

FIRST MAKE A BACKUP

Update your bootloader
!! BE SURE THAT THE BATTERY IS FOR MORE THEN 50% CHARCHED !!

Put the bootloader on a SD card 2GB or less ( i.e. 256 MB card) Read the txt file wich included in the
bootloader.
---
1) Take empty SD card from at least 4GB SDHC class 4 or higher.
2) Format the SD card Fat32 once slowly. If it's a new card then you can skip this.
3) Use NavCore 1.NC9.510_DSA_For 32Mb_ram_Voice+UK and unpack it (winrar o.i.d)

and place the files and folders on the SD card.
Insert SD Card in the device.
4) Reset the device (at least 15 sec) and then run it till the notice "No map found"
5) Use map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland.1005_8763

Unpack it remove the cspeech files and
Copy the new map to your SD card in its own folder.
When you open the map you see the individual files.
Not a map in a map.
6) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your SD Card root.
Run "FastActivate.exe".
Select 2

7) SD card in the device. Reset the device (at least 15 sec)
Done

I think it worked, the bootloader didn't seem to do alot just kept come with a picture of sd card and a cross.

But its working, it shows the following info

App 9.510.1234792.2 OS 547200
Compliant with the NF Mark
Produit certifi NF-469
Uk maps v1005.8763

Does that look correct?

If it works then it is allright.
I suppose your bootloader is stil 5.0500 and that can be used till 2GB above that the bootloader has to be upgraded.
