Tom Tom XXL help please

Postby combat goofwing » Wed Sep 19, 2012 10:06 am

trying to sort out a XXL device 5" screen, it switches on and i get the drums sound but it sticks on the tom tom logo screen, when connected to pc it connects no problem, but looking at the files on there seems to be not many files i think some may be missing also there is in tom tom .bif file that contains device details etc

any help would be great

By now you should know the general procedure of restoring a TT, after all it is not your first work with TT ;)

i do but just wondered why there was something else at fault before i start tinkering, given that ir wont boot and some files seem to be missing
first port of call load up the latest navcore, any suggestions on a good one for a 5" device

problem seems to bee i can not write to the device any thing i try to copy over i get an error, but i can back the device up or create a new file like a text file on the device, i can even create a ttgo.bif file for the device but as it is blank it will not go passed boot screen.

Sounds like either a corrupted internal memory, SDCARD.ORG has a good format tool for that case or the memory is faulty.
Only othe option would be a completely incompatible bootloader but I doubt it.

You are a Senior Member with nearly 500 posts & you are asking basic questions like this?? Plus you have given us very little info to work with.

A .rar has a higher size limit.

the screen shots are less than 2.85 i thinks it the amount of uploads rather than the size of the current one

Get the format toll from [Please Register or Login to download file] ,use it on the internal memory with the default program settings,
do a hard reset followed by the TT clear flash tool,
connect to Home and update to the latest NC,
if no errors during the installation of the update you can assume your problem is solved.
In case you still get errors you either have a BL problem or a faulty internal memory.
