Tomtom Go 300 Issues

Postby Mike Harris » Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:53 pm

HI,
I attempted to update my friends gps this morning, and it has turned out to be an epic fail.
the touch screen now no longer functions properly and when you touch the screen the action point is well off, I cannot even use the left side of the screen.
Can someone please advice me on how to sort this, maybe detail a start from scratch solution! haha

It's hard to help without knowing exactly what you have done.

Please give detailed instructions on what you have done to the unit, and what files you used / where you downloaded them,

Also perform a hard reset on the device.

Ok so i used the links off here after using tomtom home to update the device too.
I updated using 8.391.go_work.CAB-navcore-GO-WORK.
after this the touch screen didn't work well. It wouldn't respond properly and always seemed to be if i touched the left, it would show on the right side of the screen, but even so, if it was selection an option (in this case language) it still would not properly select it even if i clicked multiple times on the selection or held my finger down on it directly on the right side of the screen.
Fast activate was also used to patch the files,
I cannot remember specifically if i have done a hard reset as yet.

I also used the fast activate to pathc the files.

I have used clear flash in the hope this would fix it too. reformatted the SD card.

It is now stuck at the I Agree page and i cannot click on agree.

when i connect to computer and select use device from tomtom home, it now asks for activation of my previously used maps too.

The 8.391 is outdated, the 8.398 is current.
When activating anything on a device all former activations will be overwritten - that's why a backup is handy.
Since the 300 is very limited you won't be able to use a full featured truck map on this device (you might proofe me wrong though).
For these low end devices the 8.4x or the 9.205 for 32mb devices is more suited.

A 4GB or larger card is required to load the navcore & map in post 6. The majority of these cards are SDHC, which requires bootloader 5.5015 or higher. Yours is ???.

Sorry, I didnt load the maps just yet.
I am trying to get it at least past this first page and get the touch screen to respond as I cannot see how the maps would stop the screen from working.
I do not have a 4gb card available either, just the 1gb one that comes with the unit.

Then stop where you are. A device will not boot without a navcore & map. The navcore and map in post 6 will not fit on anything smaller than 4GB.
How do you wish to proceed.?

I don't think, I know. I also know that my advice will never help, doing it your way. But cheers.

your device can load without maps (but will in some cases cause freezing problems), but NOT without navcore as this is the operatin system for the tomtom device,
