Thu May 19, 2011 8:05 am

currently I have the maps of Uk and I wish to install the latest maps of Western Europe.
I already have an sd card of 2gb. Which maps do I have to download?

below are some info of my tomtom

APP 5.201 (5252/050628)
os:908
30MB RAM (FREE7.3MB)
GPS V1.21, BOOT 2.18

With you current Navcore (if 5.201 is correct) none.
A full backup of your device using Windows Exlorer is recommended.
You should update your device through Home until you get the latest Navcore installed .
As an alternativ after making the backup you could download this fullbackup [Please Register or Login to download file] .
It contains the Navcore 8.562 and several voices already.
With that Navcore you can use any map with ALG and IQ Routes listed as compatile in the map chart.
The Navcore is already patched but any added map must be activated, same for some of the included premium voices.
FastActivate would be the right tool for that.

Check the map thread, there is a chart showing you which map version is compatible.
Check if a map with a compatible version number and the coverage you need is posted, download, follow instructions, enjoy ;)

I will shorlty be updating a very old GO300, the software details are,

TomTom GO300

device id AK??? D???

App. 5.420 (6543/051108) OS:1008

30mb RAM (free 6.9mb)

GPS v1.21, Boot 4.86

Map: ‘Great_Britian_Plus-Map’ v632

Language: English UK

could I just place the above downloaded Navcore 8.562

It should work on your device, but before you add the map delete the LoquendoTT and ASR folder.
A Go 300 won't handle Loquendo with the slow CPU.

OMG, can't believe I've spent the last few days & nights reading/checking trying various options, obviously all had failed

came over to this site (due to all my reading & checking) and I've sorted (well almost) it, can't believe it was so easy

A MASSIVE, MASSIVE THANK YOU TO SO MANY PEOPLE ON HERE

last night I spent some time reading various threads, again a massive thanks to the various people involved in all the guides/tutorials etc (really was first class)

now I followed the advice from a few threads, I'm now running the following

(deleted the Loquendo TT folder, but couldn't see the other one (ASR folder)

TomTom GO 300
App 8.412 (1236/090403) OS:303268
32 MB RAM (free 8.4mb)
GPS v1.20, Boot 4.8600

United Kingdom & Rep Irl 870 3419 v870.3419

now just a few more queries
1) is this the latest/best navcore etc to use

2) I'm getting told there no voices to select, where do the voices go (what folder etc)

scrap this query, have created a folder (obviously called it voices) copied a load of TT voices, activated using fastactive, now working a treat

3) what's the score with speed camera's, where do these go

again looks like I may have sorted this, have copied the 3 latest TT speedcam files, activated them using fastactive, have done a dummy run, however don't recall traffic light camera warning coming on, ?????? is this correct, shouldn't the red light traffic light camera option work as well ???

4) do I now need all the files/software on the sd card, there seems a lot more than I'm used to

once again a MASSIVE, MASSIVE THANK YOU TO SO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS SITE FOR ALL THE EFFORTS

Right folks, I've been reading & trying various options
I have now got the 2 navcore's listed below working on the very old TomTom GO 300

apologises if this is a daft question, but could someone please advise which is the best navcore option (both listed below) to use

thanks in advance

TomTom GO 300
App 8.412 (1236/090403) OS:303268
32 MB RAM (free 8.4mb)
GPS v1.20, Boot 4.8600

United Kingdom & Rep Irl 870 3419 v870.3419

TomTom G0 300
App 8.562 (438269/091014) OS:331278

32 MB RAM (free: 9.2MB)
GPS v1.20, Boot 4.8600

United Kingdom & Rep Irl 870 3419 v870.3419

also one further point, there does not seem to be a power down/switch off
when closing down the map etc, is this correct ???

The 8.412 is not a bad choice, same for the 8.562 if the swithcfiles are set correctly.
What do you mean with your last question?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the higher the number eg. 8.562
would be a better navcore to use, thoughts/opinions please

as for my other point regarding the option to turn off the sat nav

if I can explain, in my TomTom (hacked of course) in the menu system I have an option to switch off/power down the sat Nav

yet the TomTom GO 300, both the original software and the updated software, does not have any option to switch off/power down the sat nav

the only way I have on the GO 300 to turn off or close down is the main power switch (lower left hand side of satnav)

my query/question was is this correct

Thanks
