Define " but its not working". It is an attached file & there should not be any problem downloading it.

I can use the Recorded Voices though.

Are you also getting the Invalid Navcore message?

I tried the TT properly yesterday. It all worked really well, maps all good, speed cameras highlighted etc...! YAY!!! :grouphug:

One thing though, when i to 'Navigate to', then 'Postcode', i put the postage in and it only regonised the first part, i then had to put in the street name myself e.g say the post code i want to go to is 'tw1 2rr', i'd put that in and in the menu i'd have to choose 'tw1', i'd then have to put in the street name for the TT to recognise where i want to go to.

Is that problem down to the Navcore im using? If so, can i use another Navcore so i dont have that problem?

Thanks.

LATEST POSTCODES Version 855 (GREAT BRITAIN AND NEDERLAND) Postcode v855

Extract and copy the "Zip" folder to the root of your TomTom.

I'll give that a go later. If i do that will the street name come up when i type a full postcode in?

You wrote 'to the root of your tomtom'. Do you mean unzip it whilst the TT is connected to my computer?

I've seen it mentioned a few times but what is the 'root'?

Thanks.

1. Quoted from TomTom.com. In the UK and the Netherlands, postcodes are detailed enough to identify a house on their own.

2. For your 300, it's "to the root directory of your SD card". The root directory is the directory that includes all other directories.
. It can be likened to the root of a tree — the starting point. You can put the extracted "Zip" file on your card with it in the device or in a card reader.

Ok, so ive manage to get the UK & IRE map but....

when i click the autoactivate.exe file the message from the C: window the message says......

TTGO.BIF & TTNAVIGATOR.BIF not found in ROOT directory!!!

Copy Autoactivate.exe into your TomTom device/SD-Card ROOT directory

What should i do?

Hi all, another noob here!

I have the same device as Snap and have followed the same advice given to Snap so far....

Unfortunately I can't get the TomTom to start up properly. It freezes after the TomTom logo and I have to reset the device. I thought it may have been because I booted prior to running autoactivate, so I ran the exe from the root but I get the same message above that Snap got even though Autoactive.exe is on the root of the SD card.

I've tried re-installing using navcores 8.412.1236 and 8.410.1218, but with the same results.

Anyone have any ideas on where I've gone wrong please? Thanks in advance :)

Confirm that you are using a pre-patched version of 8.410 & 8.412. Also confirm that you have a ttgo.bif & a PNDNavigator.bif file on your card.

For an updated navcore go here: TomTom Automatic Navcore Installation

Select either 8.410 or 8.412. Read the instructions carefully.

Hi tendriver. I followed the above advice from page 1 of this thread. I downloaded 8.412 first of all, extracted the files to my PC and ran the application selecting the tomtom root folder to install to. I can confirm that I don't have either of the .bif files on the SD card.

Morning all,

I've figured what I've done wrong. I didn't get the latest application update from TomTom Home for my device prior to installing the Navcore
All sorted now, I have to say I'm very impressed with this knowledgeable forum.
Cheers.

Well done!! Enjoy. I apologize for not responding to your last post sooner, but I had a bit of a tech problem of my own to sort out.

Image for the kind compliment. The TomTom crew appreciates it.
