tomtom go 500 no sound with BT

Mon May 14, 2012 9:25 am

Hello mates,
A couple of days ago I updated the navcore of my go 500 with 8.412 navcore and it has been doing excellent except the fact that when i pair my phone with it to use it as hands-free and dial some one they cant hear me and i cant hear them as well. It shows that it is connected with the phone though. Any suggestions ?

Might be a weird question, but what are trying to get if you use a device that has no microphone as a hands free device?
How should they be able to hear you?
BT on your model is for data transfer only.

Well, on the specification list it says it can be used for handsfree calling. If there is no microfone, then why I am not able to hear them as well? Can it be for the navcore version?

What specification list?
To my knowledge the 500 has no mic and therefore it is pointless to use it for handsfree even if for some reason your phone is accepted.
I'm certain that won't be the case with the official Navcore for your device as it will only give you a data connection.
Even with the newer NC's your TT still can't handle handsfree.

Allright then. There is also another flaw that is more important to me. No pois are shown on the map, I checked them on the Show POi on Map Section with no result. I checked the names of the .ov2 files and they are the same with the icon files. How can I fix this? Please Help.

1. Downunder is 100% correct. A GO 500 does not have a microphone.
2. With no microphone, this question doesn't matter.

Are your POI files in the map folder?

Mon May 14, 2012 1:07 pm

Yes they are. And everything works except that. I mean when I navigate to a particular POI it takes me to it but does not show it on the map. No single POI is shown on the map.

That is the best option anyway as POI's on the map can slow down a device quite badly.
With 20 active POI's in a city area I only get stop and go movement of my map.
The only POI's I activate when travelling are the rest areas ;)

Yes, i agree with you but it would be useful for me to see whether I am passing near a gas station on my way to somewhere. I now marked only Gas Station to be shown on the map and i still cannot see them. No single icon appears.

Are we talking about TomTom POIs or 3rd party POIs, that you have added?

Mon May 14, 2012 1:33 pm

Both, I added some for my country but I can't see neither of them.

Mon May 14, 2012 1:36 pm

But you have them ticked in the POI selection?
Did you also tick the right box for showing in 2D/3D?

Mon May 14, 2012 1:59 pm

I am sorry but I am not sure that I understand what you mean. I changed the view from 3D to 2D and back again but neither of them had a POI on them. Sorry if I got you wrong.

The original mount that comes with the 500 has the mic. The 500 does do hands free using this.

Change preferences, show poi on map, Tick the POI's you need, than you get the screen which says "Which views do you want to show the selected POI"
If there is no tick in the 3D view you won't see the POI in the normal map view, same for the 2D view.

Sorry can't be any clearer.
