It's also worth keeping a backup, and updating that backup before doing any map updates or changes.

Do the "15 seconds" reset before you connect your device to your PC.

First connecting and than a 15 sec reset gives the best results. After booting up, it will connect directly, no questions asked.

I repeat: Do the "15 seconds" reset before you connect your device to your PC.

Ah, the dockingstation and the reset button.

But that doesn't chance the procedure. If a dockingstation is used, first press reset button, than connect the device to the PC and then boot up.

So first connect, than boot up. This procedure is foolproof.

1. Yep.
2. No, it doesn't change the procedure, it just changes the procedure sequence. This makes the procedure valid, whether using a docking station or just a USB cable.
3. It doesn't matter whether a device is booted before or after the device is plugged into a computer.

#3) The difference is that in most the cases it doesn't matter if you boot firtst and than connect or the the other way around. Just for some cases it's better to connect first and than start your device. If you connect before you start up all the software which might cause the problem, is passed. ttsystem file isn't loaded.

So, like I said before, this way you get the best results.

Thx for the replies guys. Unfortunately the 15 second reset doesn't work whichever way i try it Home doesnt recognise the TT. Found an interesting work around whereby u put the TomTom app on a sd card and the TT should boot up from the card as it doesnt recognise its internal memory. Its like the internal hd is now formatted in a format that neither the TT unit or Home can recognise. Anyone know if its format FAT 16 or 32.
Thx for ur help guys
