At that stage (asking for SD card) have you tried connecting to TTHome to check for updates in case you've just got something corrupt internally (or of course copying everything from a backup back to the memory (if you have a backup?)

...or grab 8.351 from here & copy across to your internal memory http://www.navitotal.com/forums/noref.php?url=http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.351.gox20.CAB-navcore-GO.cab

dave have done both
backup also clean install through tomtom home
can get to run with everything on ie map and navcore but after a short while off it goes rebooting
driving me mad

Even with an empty internal memory and all on the SD card you get reboots?
What bootloader is currently running?
Please run a checkdisk on the SD card to confirm there are no problems with it too.

have done checkdisk iam running truck navcore 8398 with BootloaderTarget=s3c24xx
Bootloaderversion=5.5120

I still think it's corrupted internal memory. Run clearflash.exe 3 times (allowing it to reboot between each go)

Sun Apr 24, 2011 3:07 pm

will do and hope this will cure it
i have run the clearflash before but only once
will try the 3 times method.
now iam going to let everyone who has helped me so far to get on with your bankholiday

Nah, the wife's watching "The Diana Years" ....yawn.... and has just poured me a beer so no worries.

bobtay wrote:downunder thanks have done all of those as you sugested but it still did the same thing it deleted the ttgo bif from the internal memory

A new ttgo.bif file is created everytime the device is booted. If you have a SD card, with a navcore on it, in the 520, when you boot, it be becomes the default & the new ttgo.bif file is created on the card.

Check you've a meta.dct AND a tmeta.dct in your map folder and plan a short trip which you know would normally take you under a low bridge or similar & see if it routes you round that.

PS you may as well use the latest v865 truck map

Mon Apr 25, 2011 5:38 pm

went on short run map was ok both meta files in map folder but rebooted once

One reboot, although a pain, is not bad although generally the 8.398 stopped that happening (mostly)

turned off and on a few times and it's booting up ok.
when useing fastactive do you need to use the 4 options
i use update meta then maps voices as i just run this from inside the map folder.
also why can you only change your linked device once every six months with tomtom is there away round this
