TomTom Go 520 - Updating Map Problems

Postby LostNavi » Tue Sep 04, 2012 2:26 am

Hello

I have been given a TomTom Go 520 to update a map. It is for my brothers, girlfriends father.

I don't know anything about TomToms at all but for around 5 hours now I have done nothing but read, search the internet, download patch tools and go around in circles.

Here I will try to explain the situation...

When it was first brought here it had on:
Navcore Version: 8.351
Map: United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland 7.05.1480

I then downloaded United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 890.4223 which had an auto installer and patcher, this all went ahead and displayed no errors during the process until I unplug the device from the USB and then I will get a Red Screen with the Error Message:

Problem with Map...
You cannot use this map on this device: United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-564

I have tried using the following tools:
FastActivate 12.03.2012 Premium edition - v1.8.8.5
Easy Activator 6.09 - * this says there is no such key in the Meta.txt Error *

Now I will post my configuration from GetMy-Config v2.53

Code: Select all
GetMy-CFG v2.53
===============

DeviceID=**********
DeviceVersionHW=GO 520
DeviceSerialNumber=************

ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
TTSystem 8124154 bytes, modified 04/09/2012 02:41
BootLoaderVersion=10012
RDS/TMC 'mctx.dat' size 44 bytes
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0
HelpFileVersion = 20090424
GreatBritainPostalVersion=version701

# - - - - -  End  - - - - - #

What I find odd is that for CurrentMap is nil and also CurrentMapVersion = 0.0

Can anyone help with this, as I am running out of things to try. Should I try to update to the latest Navcore version: 9.430 and try a different map?

Would anyone have any suggestions on which map would work the best?

Thank you to anyone that will listen to my post.

1. If you have no idea what to do, don't accept devices for you to update!
2. There are enough threads marked as solved wich have basically the same content as yours - did you check any of them for the solution?
3. Without too much trouble you would found the instructions on how to install the maps, same for the tutorials.
4. Update to the current Navcore, add the map (make sure a meta is available!) use the current version of FastActivate - enjoy.

To expand Downunder's Instructions, The current navcore for a 520 is 9.430. Current map is UK&ROI 895.4438.
You are getting Problem with Map & CurrentMapVersion = 0.0 because the map is not patched. Reason: both tools that you tried are out of date & do not have the current metas required to patch the current maps.

Hello tendriver,

Thank you for your reply. I have just this moment done exactly that and all is now working fine. I have the latest Navcore and the very same map that you mention above.

Now I need a well earned coffee and TomTom Go can go away!

Thanks again for your help and if I ever get a TomTom for myself I shall definitely know to come to this place - the map and auto patch worked flawlessly.
