1. There is not a Florida only map. You will need United_States_2GB_870.3406
2. 8.386 is a Truck navcore. Stick with 9.058.
3. I have 9.205 & the US 3406 map on a 2GB memory.
4. No other files needed. Everything is done with "Copy & Paste" in windows explorer.

If you are referring to patching a map, go here: FastActivate ENG 29.05.2011 {1.8.7.0} Read the instructions carefully.

Download these prepatched files for the 9.058 navcore. Pre-patched ttsystem, PNDNavigator & dll

[email protected]
tt.system
PNDNavigator

do i need to rename any of these files or put them in to another file and name it to some thing or do they just go on to sd card run software then put in tomtom or is this all wrong

You have 2 options.
A. Just put the US map on the card & use your internal 9.058 navcore. You will have to patch 9.058 & all maps.
B. Do nothing with the current internal setup. Put a copy of your internal 9.058 & your new map folder on the card. Copy the pre-patched ttsystem & PNDNavigator files to the card overwriting any common files. Run FastActivate ENG 29.05.2011 {1.8.7.0} to patch the map. With this setup the card is the default. Remove the card & your internal is the default.

If you chose Option A, confirm you put a copy of your device's ttgo.bif file on the card before you patched it. See if the map was patched by opening the map folder & looking for a .meta.dct file.

1. rebooting after a map update or changes to some map related files like POI's.

It is a common problem caused by the file "mapsettings.cfg" in your map folder.
To get a correct version of this file without loosing your favorites connect your Tomtom to
TomTom Home and use "operate my Go" to manually add a favorite - you can choose any address you like.
Exit and restart your TomTom, which now has a rewritten "mapsettings.cfg" file.
If everything works fine, you can delete the newly added "dummy" favorite.

2. rebooting after a Navcore update.

Make sure it is not related to the "mapsettings.cfg" (simply rename the file to test it and change the name back if it was not the cause).
Start over by doing a clean install of the Navcore :
Delete the files and folders of the Navcore and only leave the map folder on your device - I assume you did make a proper backup of your working system as mentioned in the Navcore section.
Copy all files and folders for your new Navcore on your device and start it.
If you still get a rebooting problem you might want to try a different Navcore.

Going to give this ago again just make sure i have right files in right place if i go with option A all i need on sd card is copy of maps from download link united_states_2gb_870_3406 , copy of ttgo.bif from my tomtom copy of fastactivate . if going with this option i dont need another files all i do is patch the maps with fastactivate also when doing the patch do i use fastactivate premium and is there an order that i have to do to patch it or do i just have to update meta.txt then click maps/voices/speedcams

dose ttgo.bif have to be in side the fold were the maps files are or is it ok just droped on to sd card

Try running clearflash.exe 3 times just to clear any cr4p files off your sustem or a 15 second press of the power button to reboot

1. Correct
2. Correct
3. You can use either version. Premium has an added function to patch an official navcore on a unit.
4. Correct
5. ttgo.bif file goes on the card, not in the map folder
