tomtom 910 error message

tomtom 910 error message

Postby fmmagyar » Wed Oct 13, 2010 4:34 am

Updated my TT 910 navcore from 7.9 to 8.351. No problem. Installed NA and WCE Maps 855-2884. No problem. When hooking up to internet and home get error message: invalid application for devise. Click OK and then everything else works using home. Can find out all info on my GO and also can operate my GO via home. Had checked the forum and found some suggested solutions which unfortunately did not get rid of the error message. I can live with the error message as everything else works. Am I just lucky or will I really need a solution at some later date? IE is this normal?

No impact on GPS. All maps work.

Ok to fix the wrong version error you need to do the following
Change lines 9 & 10 in ttgo.bif to read Latest officiall navcore for your device (the same as the example below)
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183

3.Save the file as ttgo.bak
4.Reboot your device
5.Connect to tthome and that error should not show up now

Thank you for your input, unfortunately it did not work. I tried it every which way but to no avail. I also noticed that the first two lines have Device Name GO 940 Live and the second line, Device version HW =GO910. I thought this may have been in error so I tried it with both lines as a 940 and both lines as 910 but to no avail. I tired it with the ttgo and ttgo.bak files together and the ttgo.bak alone. Still got error message. I changed the numbers using your suggestion and then those affiliated with the 8351 navcore. It is probably some real minor quirk that is beyond my expertise but perhaps more fitting for yours. I have copied the error message and if you desire I can send it to you via private mesaage. If not, I can live with this minor problem as everything else works. Thanking you again for your assistance and response.

djc's post 2 instructions are correct. I have repeated them here, wording them just a bit differently. Follow the instructions EXACTLY. Do no more & no less.

1. To fix version error.
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183
"Save As" ttgo.bak
Disconnect & reboot.

Tendriver: Did exactly as you have written. Still error comes up. Also tried it on my laptop and got same error message. Thus, the ttgo file has the 8351 and 9982 numbers for items 9 & 10. The ttgo.bak has 7903 and 9183 in the referenced line items. I also tried to change line items in the error plus file but to no avail. Noticed that when 910 started up it stated "welcome to 940 Live" would this be correct?
Reference disconnect and boot: Disconnected GPS via home. Rebooted GPS. Then connected to home. Thank you for your help

Make sure your PC doesn't Hide Extensions For Known File Types...

if your on XP, follow --> [Please Register or Login to download file]
if your on 7, follow --> [Please Register or Login to download file]

because if extensions are hidden,
when you "Save As" ttgo.bak
your actually saving as ttgo.bak.txt

even if your eyes see that the file is named ttgo.bak
remember, the .txt extension at the end of it is hidden!
and thats not good at all...

So first, un-hide extensions
then follow what everbody said earlier again,,,

Eskro: Followed instructions per XP. Made new ttgo.bak file. There was a txt extension which I deleted. Disconnected and rebooted and then connected to home. Same error report. Thank you for your assistance.

Try this way create 2 new files .bak & .ori

 • .bak & .bif origional navcore values for your device
 • .ori current navcore values in use

;)

You can't directly change lines 9 & 10 or anything else in the ttgo.bif file. The device creates it's own ttgo.bif with every boot. You change the ttgo.bif by creating a ttgo.bak.

1. As they should be reading.

2. That's nice, but you can't change a .bif file.
