Tomtom Go 910 gives a red cross at startup

Postby userbb » Sun Jul 14, 2013 2:12 pm

My TT Go 910 gives a red cross right below in the startup screen and it won't go any further.
After several resets (>35 sec) there is still the same problem.
Connecting the TT to the computer a new drive is detected but clicked on the drive a message is asking to insert a disk into drive....

Starting op de TT with the startup button pressed up to 8 sec a black screen with device information appears and after that the startup screen appears with the red cross in the corner right below.

Does anyone how to solve this problem ?

Thanks in advance.

It seems like your internal HDD has failed.
You can replace it with a similar model between 8 and 60GB or use a CF card with adapter.
The procedure of dismantling in explained in the tutorials, and HDD replacement is straight forward as it uses standard connectors.

Thnx for your quick response.
I was afraid that it would something like that after the things I've read on the internet.
But I wanted to check this with the experts and I had a little hope....

Already told you to check the tutorials and that the rest is just a simply connector.
:link:
Simply check Ebay for a CF to Ziff adapter and buy a CF card that is big enough for you.
Otherwise check your local electronics store.
Why is it so hard these days to use a search enigne....

Sorry if I annoy you but I checked the tutorial and I couldn't find this tutorial.
I found a link to "Tomtom Go 910 Dismantling Manual.pdf" but the link is not showing me the manual.
Please check this link and you'll be lead to a search site of crocko, no manual !

And besides that, not all people are as familiar with the site and the search engine as you are !
It took me some time to find the right search tags to find the (not working link) to the manual.

I think this is a great site for help on all navigation problems but you forget that also people with not that much knowledge of computers and navigation visit your site.
