You are correct, a 910 has NO card slot. Plug the unit into your computer & turn the device on. Does it ask if you want to connect to your computer?

An official TomTom charger connects to both a wall outlet &/or your computer.

Try this:
Turn the TT off.
Connect to the PC.
Push the reset button for 15 sec.
Turn the TT on.
It should now connect to the PC straight away.

If your USB cable is working and same goes for the port than all I can suspect is a dead hard drive.
You can get adaptors for the PC, so you can test and write on the HDD but if you want to go further with this TT,
it might be easier and cheaper to get a CF card and adaptor.
The CF card replaces the internal HDD and the adaptor gives you the right connection for the TT.
You should be able to get these at a good electronics shop (for the US Europe) or on Ebay for a few bucks.
A replacement HDD would set you back about 30-50$ and same for a good big CF card and adaptor.
